Virgin does seem to be decent. I say this despite having problems at the moment, but the customer service has been fine, from phone support (during UK hours anyway) to the van monkeys. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

In my previous place I had the top Virgin fibre package and speedtest.net tended to peak at 80mb/s DL. I thought I needed it until I moved and couldn't get fibre.
I've had Sky 17mb broadband for 10 months with an average speedtest DL of close to 10mb/s. I game avidly and download lots. It's been fine.
We always tend to think bigger is better but it's really not - from a value for money perspective it's a different story. ____________________ Current: Suzuki GSX650F (2010), Suzuki GSXR1000 K7, Suzuki GS250T (1980) currently restoring: Clicky.

Also found plusnet good for ADSL (no fibre here anyway)
Previously with virgin speeds were usually bad mid-evening but it's very rare plusnet drops at all.
They also don't block e.g torrent sites (even though easily circumvented I like the attitude)
Oh yes and just about cheapest |
