Well yeh you have a point but this applies to our own as well surely. I'm expected to assist and mentor apprentices. I gain nothing from it financially and I am potentially helping my own replacement.

Then why do it?

Academics teach because their income is guaranteed - they are paid in sweat scraped from the brows of their successful students.

Competing in the private sector, why on earth would you train up a younger, hungrier version of yourself who will work longer and harder and for less to supplant you?

What's in it for you?

Is exactly what I asked today of the professionally suicidal SJW hippy who thought I might be interested in donating a knife to the stabby chap standing behind me.

I swear his lip actually trembled as the cognitive dissonance kicked in. It felt good. Drooling

Or if you look on the glass half full side, (depending on where you work) you are training someone to take your role for when you get moved up a rung?

How it worked for me anyway.

Of course.

A long time ago, when I was young and stupid*, I offered an apprenticeship @ MG Rover. Couldn't wait to get us through the door and start working there. The day after the offer, was on the news of the amount of shit MG were in, and all the redundancies they were making.

Laughing * Inb4 bnp72 with some sarcy remark

While in direct swap that might be right, it is what is left over after paying living costs here that can be transferred back

All the best

I wasn't going on exchange rate as such, more a guess based on his own comments that "in 6 years me and the wife can go back and buy a house and two flats".

I def can't knock him personally, he was a real friendly guy, hard worker, intelligent and did what was needed without being told, had a Masters degree in Music as well as 5 years in Polish army. Basically infinitely more useful and employable than the 17 year old kid we had working there who had to be told 3 times before he did anything.

You can't knock the employer really either, given the option who would employ the teenage shitbag over someone who is going to graft and work hard?

It's got 2/3 - cheap labour and replacement of the experienced. Not foreign though, but you know what Meatloaf said ; 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Laughing

Bnp72 - just to piss on your chips, I didn't take the offer. Sorry Laughing

It's always "me, me me" with you isn't it?
If you did take the offer and they had you on board, the mighty MG Rover may have been outselling German manufactured cars by now. Evil or Very Mad

Not at all. With insight it was my first stand against doing away at with higher paid workers to replace with slave labour. My stand against capitalism. Laughing

What did you do? Sit at your computer ranting about some foreigners.

All 6? The raped 7 year old girl gets it too does she?
I think you'll find being a rape victim is only an offence in Islamic countries.

You really do make an utter twat of yourself don't you? That's one of the best lines I've ever cast, and you jumped on it like white on rice.

Go back, and get an adult to read what YOU put, then come back and apologise for your cuntitis. Thumbs Up

If we need a sixth, Merkel can take the prominent spot.

Yeah, sorry, I forgot that you are such a staunch Muslim apologist that you'd want to hang the 7 year old rape victim too.

It's the will of Alan.

Still struggling?

Here's a clue.

Oberstaatsanwältin Nana Frombach confirms: "We have initiated a case against five persons. There had been no urgent need for action.

Of course, I should have understood immediately. Our new Middle Eastern mathematicians were doing valuable research, to discover, when given three holes, just how many times five goes into seven. Just think how much humanity is learning.

What you'll be doing is developing your career. I have never been put off by these type of arguments. When I train someone below me to do my job flawlessly, I have the goal of him, when he's ready, to take my job and I can take the step up.

I am helping this guy, this guy is helping me.
(This argument falls if you'd like to be doing the same thing all of your life!) Smile

It also fails if your organisation has a pyramid structure. Fewer jobs at each level as you go up the hierarchy

Only a maximum of 10% of people can move up to the next level. The rest get replaced by the cheaper cuckoos they just invited in
