You'll have to figure out for yourself how far you want to take it. I see no harm in Sikhs being allowed their particular exemption, except perhaps to themselves in the event of an accident.

Do you understand why people get fed up with replying to you? It just never ends Rolling Eyes What are you trying to achieve with me? An argument?

Sikhs do not have an EXEMPTION from British Law on wearing of helmets as such. They are not above the law. It IS fundamentally part of British law that helmet use regulations do not apply to Sikhs wearing turbans. This was agreed by multiple passes through duly elected parliament, the house of lords and gained royal ascent.

The other examples you cited (tax evasion, FGM,) are fundamentally illegal and their persistence reflects a problem with enforcement.

Specifically the Road Traffic Act 1988, section 16, paragraph 2 if you're interested.

Quote:

A requirement imposed by regulations under this section shall not apply to any follower of the Sikh religion while he is wearing a turban.

Calm down. I'm just pointing out how flawed this comment was. If you keep trying to justify it, I'll keep showing why it's wrong.

Sounds like fun. I hope it makes you very happy Smile

Happy now?

No exceptions? Laughing

Point of order: what does a picture of Sikhs in 'murica have to do with British helmet laws?

If they come to live and work here in the UK, they should be prepared to adopt British values and practices in our society. They should not be exploited as slave labour.

Its about how people innately undervalue their labour because of ingrained culture. Its not that Eastern Europeans choose to be payed badly and treated like s#ite its that they are culturally behind the western European worker. They predominantly enter the essentially working class sector of employment and this creates a situation where we have a two tier society, middle class workers get to aspire to a western European modern lifestyle and pay and the working class left in a backward eastern bloc style factory fodder lifestyle.

The plates and cars look British to me, but either way they’re the only ones exempt from this law in the U.K., so it’s there for representation of a point.

Anyway, let’s ignore it and get back on topic.

Muppet, nothing stopping you from wearing a turban/towel on your head instead, in fact there's quite a well known chap around here who does just that, and, no he's not a sikh, a little eccentric perhaps.

The sentiment is the same.
They don't need to wear a helmet because of a religion. FGM made illegal but MGM is not or is ignored when it may fall under other laws.

Public told not to take ‘direct action’ against migrants

https://home.bt.com/news/latest-news/public-told-not-to-take-direct-action-against-migrants-11364396318686

TBH I'm surprised we haven't a full scale naval war with one side trying to rescue them and the other trying to sink them.

Now where's my radio controlled alligator. Cool

Just need to play Jaws 1, 2 & 3 on repeat in the migrant camps around Calais. That'll stop 'em crossing the channel. If not there's always...

All the good ones drown apparently.

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/woman-drowned-in-channel-trying-to-save-baby-and-fellow-migrants/ar-AAItjDB?ocid=ientp

"....An Iranian woman who drowned during an ill-fated journey across the Channel was a "very brave girl" who died trying to save her fellow passengers, a survivor from the boat has told....We watched Mitra with her arm outstretched screaming for help for 15 minutes."

While everyone else sat in the boat. Watching. For 15 minutes.

I'm so glad the rest of them made it across.
Having read the article it doesn't seem like she was intentionally doing anything altruistic and was just trying to get to a rescue rope on her own.
