They're quite small though, so you can fit lots to a cell.

Some good news?

UK to sign deal to send asylum seekers to Rwanda for processing

Quote:
The Refugee Council criticised the policy as "cruel" and urged a rethink.

Excellent! Good chance the plan will be effective given the reeeeing of the Left.

I keep thinking the large slice of humble pie Johnson's been served with regards to parties during Covid has been about the best thing to happen in this country and arguably for the whole world!

I can't believe all these racists are saying Rwanda is a cruel place to send someone! It is a diverse and multicultural country, they are lucky migrants. Personally I would expand the camp to hold 40,000.

I predict there will be a dingy rush to our shores to try and get in before this goes through.

I have to say it does sound uncomfortably like one of Britains less august historical inventions. The concentration camp.

The worst bit is they are likely to use a dulux colour chart to decide who goes and who gets to stay.

I think the howling from the concerned middle class brigade is they're worried it will catch on in Europe and when they try to escape from Borislavia (in home crafted eco friendly rafts lovingly recycled from used pallets) they may be sent to a processing centres in some god awful corner of a Euro friendly nation desperate to erse lick Brussels, east kilbride for instance Shocked

The same concerned middle class (metropolitan liberal elite) are always very keen to host refugees... in working class areas! Close enough for the middle classes to use them as cheap labour, far enough away that they don't go to the middle class kid schools!

Regarding the Reeeeing over the Rwanda plan are they saying that morally it is better for ppl to drown in the Channel than it is to discourage the trip in the first place?

I was sent a clip gloriously illustrating our inept National Guverment's offer to Roma peoples fleeing persecution in Europe.
According to the clip those peeps turn everything they receive into a slum/ghetto.

We have our own home-made ghettos in Scotland, We should try to Fix oor ain hoose 1st before we go lending a hand elsewhere.

The UNHCR has been placing Libyan refugees in Rwanda for a while now, without the outcry.

Barely contained joy on the BBC when a couple of hundred landed this weekend after a 10-day hiatus due to unfavourable winds, because it supposedly means Patel’s Rwanda plan isn’t a deterrent. They just want the government to fail.

The government is s#ite. It hardly needs help from the beeb. Do you really think after someone or their family or church or whoever has given £$€¢thousands is going to balk at crossing the channel just because Patel has set up a BnB in Rwanda? Who do you think has more influence over the migrants, Patel the Beeb, you or the gangsters who've taken the cash? To be fair the Beeb also pointed out that the french are basically escorting the dinghies half way across the channel.

There will only be any effect after those migrants sent to Rwanda start phoning home and explaining to their families that the UK is a hell of a lot warmer than they were told and has a huge amount of black customs officers.

Talk of people smugglers is designed to create a new, anonymous bogeyman and make out the immigrants are victims.

We’re not the first to employ Rwanda in this capacity and I think it’s the first tangible deterrent.

There’s got to be something wrong in this democracy when a government with an 80-seat majority is being hampered by a left-wing media and civil service.

It's the ECHR and the lawyers who are paid massive sums of money who make it hard to do anything about it. If we left the ECHR, we'd have a chance.

They hamper themselves as much as anything. Do you really think the Tories are anti cheap imported labour? The only reason they play the anti immigration card is for cheap vote purchasing purposes. They cant stand people traffikers because they're not getting a cut.

Imported labour? Laughing
The illegals aren’t contributing.
I’m thinking of pitching up at some foreign land and saying, “I’m here now, you have to look after me.” I expect short shrift.

And who wrote that law at the end of wwII?

Hint: it wasn't the ec or the eu or any other conglomeration of European states.
