I'm looking for a small device that can connect to Wifi (*), has GPS capability and a small camera. Needs to be able to run Mono so I can execute some .Net code or HTML5 + javascript. Ideally have some self power capability.

Considering a rPi; but would prefer something more 'pre-built'. Don't really want to use a (Android) phone; And I'd like the camera to be small enough ideally at the end of a cable so it can be mounted a metre or so away from the main device.

This is for a (project) tracking device for a bike. Using Azure (*) storage; the device will run a client (HTML5 or .Net) recording GPS location and periodically taking pictures (maybe from the dash or from under the nosecone, if there is movement).

There might already be something out there that does this. I'd still be interested in a device that can do the above.

Has anyone does this? I know folk have set up rPi to help monitor garages; I'm looking to do similar, however instal the device to the bike.

(*) it's getting to the point wherever you park in most cities there's a free (poor) Wifi available... I'll address connectivity later; just want to investigate base devices first...

would an arduino with gps shield (+ cheap mobile) not do?

https://www.instructables.com/id/Arduino-GPSGSM-Tracker/

with the various 'shields' (add-on boards) you can build nice little systems and the coding is pretty simple to pick up.

dunno if it'll help your specific prob but might do Smile

code isn't a problem. Want to avoid a mobile phone because they have the camera built into the case therefore would be more visible ..
Interesting tho

The r-pi2 is a decent bit of kit if you remember that it is great at doing maybe.. 3 things at once.

Check out what M$ are supporting.

There are many dev.boards on the market, some without a video-out etc.

I was checking out 'droid boards aswell and spotted this
