So what does this mean Confused It's bright yellow and wide as a Zebra Crossing.

It appears to be just a visual traffic calming feature to highlight the pedestrian crossing point at the junction (not a zebra crossing because they would only paint the white stripes !)

Yes, we have them in a village near us. There's a proper pelican crossing at the other end of the village, but at this end there is one of those dropped-pavement-and coloured road crossings. Whilst it (presumably) has no legal standing, in fact it encourages car drivers to stop and let people cross - especially when there is slow moving rush hour traffic. It works really nicely, showing that people can co-operate when given a hint.

The surface is grippy (shellac), so not a problem in wet.
