Ah well, tried to book my DAS course today and couldn't get test dates to suit, so would be looking at August. This has now determined what I'll be doing.
I'm Now on the look out for "The Notorious Varadero", since it seems the 125 of choice and I think it looks quite nice too. The plan is to use it over the summer to perfect my slow manoeuvres and clutch control and get some riding experience under my belt and sit my DAS before winter sets in.

Fingers crossed I find a suitable one soon, if anyone knows of a cheap half decent one near Glasgow or within a 30 mile or so radius drop me a PM

Cheers

You'll get rid of it in a heartbeat once you've got your DAS so why not get a cheap shitter that you can pass on for what you paid for it so you can throw the big £££ at your Big Bike?

A Verydearo will sell for its purchase price, so if there's enough in the kitty to buy one and then do training and tests, why not?

Finding a cheap one though, there's the rub. Word seems to have got out about them. Wink

I bought a little ybr for £1000 to get me going until, when i do my a2 in July.
I think its a good idea, u wont lose money if u get a good deal and u can just change the insurance to the new bike when u get it

Some insurers won't let you change a policy from a 125 to a larger bike. Good luck finding a broker who will even understand the question let alone give a definitive answer about the underwriter.

I changed my insurance half way through when I passed my test.It was only about 10 or 20 quid.
If you're buying a 2nd hand bike privately you'll probably only lose a small amount if anything when selling after 2 or 3 months regardless of the price of the bike.
So a 1k ybr or 2k varadero is much the same in that respect.

Hi, out of interest I bought my Varadero (55 plate) from a dealer for £1700.00 then traded it in for £1400.00 two years later.

The bigger bike I traded it in for was of similar value so its not like they gave me an inflated price.

And I changed my on an eBike policy for £0. But it's incorrect to state that you can do it unconditionally on all policies.

That's "private good" money, which it ain't, so I'd be offering a fair bit less.

Yup, about that. Since it's Gumtree you could be a bit of a cad and make some anonymous 'offers' to see if he's daft enough to 'accept' them.

Turn up, proffer actual cash if it seems sound, see if he's had enough of TIEM WAISTARS!!!! Wink
