Varadero 125 Topbox Mounting

Hi All,

Having a bit of a nightmare. I bought this topbox:

and the "Universal Mounting Plate" doesn't fit to the Honda rear rack on my Vara. I really could do with finding a large-ish topbox to fit to this rack but don't have a clue how to go about finding one that fits.

(I'm obviously returning the one I just bought).
I looked at drilling into the rack but the integrity of the rack would be compromised and it wouldn't be secure.

If anyone has any ideas as to any large top-boxes that would fit to this rack - please do let me know!

Make an adaptor plate yourself out of a nylon cutting board, so that it mounts on your rack and you affix the universal plate to that.

The plate that comes with that topbox is a bit shit. I recommend using many of 12.9 grade 8mm bolts to firmly secure it.

Bolt topbox to the plate, then bolt the plate to your rack. As my rack does not have bolt holes, I used two halfs of a rear sprocket under the rack, which you can just about see in pic:

Cutting boards are usually HDPE or similar and not well suited, the bolts could pull through - nylon is quite a bit more expensive.
