To complement the thread on what you'll be using to tour on in 2015, I thought it might be interesting to hear of what tours people actually have planned for the coming year, if only to wind me up, cos I don't think I'll be able to fit much in myself. Not that I won't be having fun, but hopefully I'll have a whole new set of places to explore that will be close by, just to keep positive ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

After my first taste of touring in 2013 (clicky) I was pretty desperate to get away again in 2014, but the plans never came to be.
I'm also really interested to hear other people's plans, my dad and I are hoping to go away again but nothing set solid destination wise yet.
I quite fancy the Alps for 2015 but it's a fair old slog getting there. When we did our tour in 2013 I was very impressed with the Vosges in France and also the area around Etch-sur-Sure in Luxembourg , both of which (Luxembourg particularly) are a fair bit closer than the Alps.
Still, it's all about the journey not the destination, right!? ____________________ I am a bellend, I am a man of constant sorrow, I am a gummy bear, I am a rock. |

When I think of touring the Alps, I always have these ideas of seeing everything from one end to the other in one monumental epic, which of course, I'd love to do (haven't done any of it yet ). But of course, you could always split it down a bit.
My planned tour for the year just gone, which due to circumstances never happened, included stopping around the Ardennes for a few days, to explore places of interest and break the trip down into more manageable sections. I suppose then you could always have just one smaller area/destination in the Alps themselves planned in, and stop for a couple of overnight breaks on the way back? Seems to me 2 weeks would give you a reasonable amount of time to make something of this, and then you've got plenty of reason to go back to the Alps again in the future? ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Assuming the BCF 2015 EuroJolly goes ahead as planned I will be doing that. I'll also be going up to Scotland at some point too - the Isle of Skye is quite appealing to me ____________________ Present: [Kawasaki ZX7r][Suzuki DRZ 400s]

Might be able to fit a little Scotland tour in myself, conceivably. I'd like to do the full Skye road (3rd time lucky) and still never done the Applecross one.
BCF Scotland trip anyone? ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Just writing this in pencil......Can't do March..Err...Can't clash with BCF BBQ.... That's it so far. |
Sounds like a plan to make a plan
Well, depends on when the house sells for me, hopefully April/May? Estate agents think it'll be an easy sell, but who knows? So can't fix anything in stone yet, perhaps late summer/early autumn. I'd also like to do the next BCF BBQ, but again, can't commit yet. I'll keep it in mind though ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Very nice
I have to say given my aforementioned love of the Vosges that I'd find it very tricky not to make my route do something like this:
https://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee81/paddy2007dug/Vosges_zps48aacaf1.png
*Green for extra squiggly mountain roads.
But then Mulhouse was as far south as we got on our little escapade whereas you have much further to go. ____________________ I am a bellend, I am a man of constant sorrow, I am a gummy bear, I am a rock. |

Assuming I get either my bike on the road or get a different bike then I'm quite excited about my options. Being based in Berlin means that places like Poland are an hour away, Tatra Mountains in Slovakia are around 430 miles away and places like Hungary, Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia & Herzegovina are all easily do-able.
If I was feeling particularly brave then the Russian border is only about 850 miles away and I could always head north to Sweden and Norway if I was feeling rich.
Places like the Alps are about the same distance away from me now as they were when I was in the UK but without having ferry crossings to consider and better motorway links I could always consider them an option too.
Saying all that there are plenty of good riding places in Germany so I may not even leave the country! ____________________ Now: '00 Kawasaki ZRX1100R - Past: '84 Yamaha DT125, '89 Kawasaki KLR600, '97 Yamaha XJ600N

I'm off to Portugal in May. Crossing from Dover. Ride down France in to the med. Then it's a case of follow the coast round in to Spain. A bit of cross country. In Spain, then down in to Portugal, to stay for a few week's. Ride back up to the mountains in northern Spain. Cheap hotel's and hostels. Make my way back to the French Boarder. For the run home.
Any one looking to tag along.

Only had the licence a few months, and a lot of family stuff on this year including a possible house move, so time and money will be tight. Still, planning a wee overnighter with a mate Clicky ____________________ 2001 Honda VFR800fi |

Did my first euro jolly last September, France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy & Monaco, took in the flùella, umbrail and Stelio passes, & a fantastic road between Nice and Grenoble, 7 full days on the road but 7 fantastic days riding, this year (2015) I'm undecided either push through Switzerland and into Austria or try the Pyrenees Santander over to Barcelona. I've heard great things regards both routes so will have to do some research I think regards costs, roads and routes. ____________________ RM125, TS125, X5 200, X7 250, RD 350 LC ------- 25yrs later cbr600f (sold) - cbr1000rr (2014) |

well me and my bro have 2 planned 3 days Mayday long weekend Peak district to check out all our gear ready ourselves for our first big one at the end of may 2015 we are motorbike touring virgins & a
9 day camping tour of Scotland with a day touring the peak and lake districts each on the way up from surrey area, 22 May with some other riders from the NC700 forum, thiers 6 of us going so far and we will max it out at 8 to keep it nice a small & friendly doing some great routes most all the Lochs skye applecross ect around 2,200 miles all routes now sorted anybody that wants some more info or would be interested to tag along more than welcome to pm me and pop along to the 2 pre tour meets
cheers David
Some details below
oh yeah and if im nice to my better half a week down the Atlantic side of Ireland in i can swing it camping of course late august
Updates with lots of Changes
Scotland 9 Day Motorcycle Tour 2015
Saturday 23th – Saturday 31st May
Saturday May 23 to Sunday 31 May
Several of us are riding up the evening before to be ready at the campsite nice and fresh to start Day one all else is as before and look forward to seeing all at the 2 pre-tour meets at the super sausage café A5 Saturday 31st January at 12.00pm ( if the weather bad on the January date it will change and i will contact all via group email the day before ) and say hello to those that we have not met and then a final meet Saturday 15 May @ Rykas cafe box hill 12.00pm for a sausage roll & coffee. Look forward to see you all same as usual any questions or anybody wishing to join us or find out more about the tour email me,
With regards to the lead rider I have no problem doing this, I will stop as I wish to take pic’s vids ect. I will be riding at my pace and speed if any of you others with sat nav’s would like to share the lead please let me know so we can share days or mornings and/or afternoon ride leads, the files are there for all to use, those that are just happy to follow and stop when I stop no problem, those that might decide on a shorter days ride and cut sections out no problem shorter days option will be built in to each day as a separate file so you can load, it’s up to you as long as we sort who is going to stay with who at the end or beginning of each riding day for individuals safety’s sake. Those of you with sat nav’s this makes it very easy, the final files for each day will include an option for the shorter day where possible if you wish, I will email out to all at the beginning of May as tyre itinerary files so we are all working from the same book as suc. Has everybody got a sat nav or phone they are using for navigation? or will you need to stay with someone that has one? Some of the routes are quite challenging steepness wise ie Baeloch Na Ba and Hardknott /Winnots passes to name a few.
I hope you are all up for this for me it all about the scenery/ride and good company. We have a couple of ferries to catch the first is Addrossan - Campletown around 3hrs 25 min & Malliage – Armadale 30 min will i will email thier prices out nearer the time as normal you need to book and pay your own nearer the time with our ferry departure times ( don't leave it till the day as your will end up waiting at the dock while the rest of us wave at you as we sail away)
It may well be that some of you wish split some days for those wishing a faster ride (as im a plodderish Rider but i have me moments ) and those that don’t what do you all think? all things to discus at the breaks or evening meals venues this is purely to make things run smoothly and enjoyable when we are actually on out their riding, remember it is up to you to pre book your accommodation at each days route destination. we are touring towards the end of May during a school half term week it would be a good idea to pre book a pitch on campsites, especially if you want a E/H best to pre book probably not a good idea to leave it to when you turn up especially if you are planning to B&B but I think most of us are camping with an occasional B&B if the weathers really bad as this is a budget trip for me anyway
Emergency contacts is something you need to think about even if you just exchange them with someone else of the trip ditto for a spare set of keys for your bike, think on decent breakdown cover a tyre repair kit ect, we are out in the sticks nearly all of the time the list goes on an old adage is true remember the 3 P’s otherwise this tends to lead to a Crap trip for all.
Plan on it being wet or raining every day it can only get better from that point
Each day’s Departure time I’m an early riser and would like to be packed and on the road by 8.30 am latest what about you? But there might be the odd day that im not
Finally I need to remind everyone that this tour has been organised by me purely on a voluntary basis. There is no leader it is all for one and one for all!
The Scotland 2015 Tour that is what we are calling this adventure, I accept no responsibility for it for those attending, you are all grownups, you are responsible for yourself, your safety, equipment, your bike, your insurance, your breakdown cover, the way you ride, your safety and the safety of those around you. If you go on a trip it is up to you to ride your own ride! Enough said!
If there are any comments concerns suggestions, information you need to relay please email me
Ride Safe
Cheers David

That looks very organised
Touring plans for 2015 are the Eifel region in September for the 4th time. That'll be with a group and staying in our favourite hotel but I have a yearning to do something euro-related on my own as I did in 2013 and 2014
Haven't decided where or when yet as I do tend to decide these trips at the last minute. If and when I do go, it'll be cheap No TT for me this year but definitely go to Wales for a few days at some point. ____________________ GSXR750 > GSXR1100 > ZX9R > CBR900RRP >CBR929RR>K1200S |

Hoping to do mid Wales for a few days this year, combined with a day at an off road taster day.
Will be comfortably the furthest I've been on the bike and heard great things about the roads - will probably be on here late in the year asking for specific route / accommodation recommendations. ____________________ Bikers make great organ donors - add your name to the register

Another BCF euro jolly in summer hopefully. Going to try fit in another BCF wales trip during summer too if enough people are interested again.
Maybe a few days upto Scotland at some point in the year if I can squeeze it in. Still really want to do week trip around Ireland at some point, but i'm not going to have time this year |
