I have my mod 2 next week then am going on holiday. Therefore if I fail I'll rebook for when I'm back, and I really shouldn't need three attempts. That'll mean a new bike in a few weeks.

For a few reasons I'd like a centre stand, but I'd also like something reasonably quick - probably an inline four. Is there anything close to a CBR600F? I need to part ex my CBF with a dealer so will be reliant on what's around locally.

I should have around 3k total to play with, I'll be commuting but would like to do a couple of trackdays within a year. Cheers!

To be honest - I'd just go with the CBR. It ticks boxes

Overweight and underpowered.

3k will get you an immaculate, injected 600F. You won't do better, fast comfy and reliable.

Why is the centre stand so important?

You need nothing other than a CBR600F. Fantastic bike. Probably the best all round bike I've ever owned. I'd have another tomorrow.

Any reason WHY you NEED to PX @ a dealer....

Or is it can't be arsed to sell it.

Will you be stuck on some kind of restricted licence, and will you be keeping the restrictors in?

If you are going to be restricted, then I would go for something with a power output close to the restriction. If you are going to be ignoring the restriction, I still wouldn't go straight from a 14hp 125 to a 90hp 600. I prefer to work up to bigger power outputs gradually, and for me the sweet spot is around 50-60hp. Enough to have fun, but not enough to easily get in trouble.

CBR6 F4i should cost about 1500. 100bhp is nice, it not too big a jump for a learner. I am more than happy on a 45hp 250RR, it does 120mph and keeps up in the groups I ride with. I'd say its more fun.

150mph bikes are a bit unnecessary unless you intend to ride in groups over 130. Or want to play stunting.

Your probably not going to get as much as you think for your 125, they do not keep value that well.

Another vote for the cbr600f.

I was in tge same situation as you, passed mod 2 in November and was debating what to get.

Heart said cbr 600rr but logical choice was a cbr 600f.

Bought the 600f and it was the right call.

Im already looking at what to get next, but the 600f was definitely the right call as a first big bike....

I would pick the cbr600f over the rr as well. rr is fine if all you do is trackdays or ride twisties but the cbr600f is a much better all purpose everyday bike. I had one for years, great bikes.

I don't have a car so need to get to work and I wouldn't have a way of getting to bike viewings.

Thanks all. I'm 28 so can get anything unrestricted. Hopefully I'll be posting in the picture forum in a few weeks!

Cbr600f3 here as well!
Preferably a us import.
From 0-7k it's got plenty of grunt to get around, mild mannered and forgiving and if it's your first big bike 7k + is point and pray territory!
Am yet to have any issues having used mine for commuting so defiantly up there for reliability.
Easy on the fuel no matter how you spank it, comfortable even for a few hours, will cruise at around 100 more happily and an easily indicated 140 (on a private road of course) before my testicular fortitude ran out heh.
Pretty cheap to pick up these days as well Smile

The usual snoosnoo response. ZZR600 E models. For just over 2k, there are some nice examples of the E11 + models which should have low miles and should still have life in their rear shocks. My E3 needed a replacement at 17 years old.

You have a bike now.
Use that for viewing and sell afterwards Thumbs Up

Don't limit yourself to just dealers.

Just over 2k for a lardy, underpowered boring bike? For less than £2k, you can get a far better CBR600F.

I had the 600f4i, really miss it. Dead comfy, fast enough. I got the 600RR and it's not *that* much faster, all the power is in the top end and you'll never really be there for long unless you're on the track.

Get the f4i Thumbs Up
