Any recommendations for training schools in Nottingham? Looking at Roadcraft and Shires at the moment. Shires seem more expensive but look like they have nicer bikes. Any others worth a look?

Dunno, but one of my lads has just done his CBT and I'd say its the quality of tuition over quality of bikes you'd be best looking at.

Lad said his instructor was friendly, funny, patient and willing
to answer questions honestly
which is as it should be rather than have a shouty 'thou shalt' type
or bullshit 'give me yer money' merchant.

I will not disagree with you but I do not have first hand experience of the tuition of either school. Both get similarly glowing reviews on Facebook so I do not know if the higher cost is purely so they can have nice, shiny new Street Triples, etc. I was hoping someone with experience of either school could comment.

I did my CBT with another one but, whilst I did not have any issues with the tuition, they gave the impression that they were winding down their business and I am not so sure I want to continue with them for further training.

Two of my mates have been through Beechdale Motorcycles and they seem to rate their tuition pretty highly.

I think one of their instructors is pretty big on YouTube as well under the name of RoadcraftNottingham. I've watched a few of his videos and he seems like a good bloke.

Did all my training with Bike Torque in Notts. Brilliant tutors reasonable prices, and set me up for my advanced.

Also did some good ride outs city centre etc for bus lanes as well as Matlock for great roads.

Roadcraft seem good.
Can only go by the youtube videos but Russ seems a good bloke.
I had a 3 hour lesson with Aim at Watnall and I found them really good and not too expensive.
But I only did the one lesson and then took my test on the 125,as did my girlfriend.
We both passed first time.

I have seen Russ' videos on Youtube. Not many teaching ones for a while but still some are informative. I notice that payg lessons do not cost the earth with them so not a lot to be lost by giving them a try. Would be nice to hear opinions on Shires though.

If you're up the north end of the county, try A1. It's in bircotes so I think that's just into south yorks. Been a while since i was there, but then they had 4 instructors on the go armed with bandits although an oversize peugeot scooter and Dragstar made appearances as instructor vehicles and Sue would only ride a ducati cafe racer that was horrendously loud and impractical. BSH appeared to be the magazine of choice. Possibly a bit marmite.
