I'm going to start with, Welcome and you posted this in the wrong section of the BCF. Razz

Checking some sites, such as:
https://www.gileraspares.co.uk/genuineparts/1007/T17/gilera%20coguar%20125/filter%20box?uID=0

The filter seems to be out of stock everywhere. Now, there are 2 options, if the filter is clean enough, leave it there. OR if it's beyond usable, just get rid of the air box and use a pod filter.

The oil, use what the manual says. 20w50 is pretty common for air cooled engines.

Just noticed it...
Sorry :p

Any ideas on replacing it with some different filter? Maybe some car one?
Actually removing the airbox will not be the best idea, cause battery bracket is mounted to it :/

Well, you may buy the filter foam and fabricate your own filter. I fabricated some filters in the past, not ideal, but better than nothing. It will take a bit of experimenting before you get the air/fuel mixture about right.

You won’t be able to buy one. There’s a Facebook group ‘Gilera Cougar 125 group’ that has a few work arounds. Including buying a car paper style filter and cutting and gluing or buying motorbike filter foam from your local bike workshop. There’s a few step by step guides on there and a load of other handy documents. If yours isn’t too FUBAR, another guy had success air gun blasting his clean. I gather the main difficulty is getting the old one out without damaging the frame.

Have you tried taking the original filter to an industrial filter specialist? Probably your best chance of success unless they were manufactured specifically for that bike which is fairly unlikely.

That's the filter. Smile
I joined this Cougar Facebook group as you guys said. Looking for it literally everywhere, at the moment I've found it in some Italian parts shop. If there will not be any in UK, I will have to import it I guess... Neutral
