Hi guys, I have a 98 Yamaha XJ600. I need to replace the rear brake calliper, but I can't find one. Would anyone know if there is another I can buy from another bike without replacing all the mountings.

Thanks

There appear to be loads on ebay?

Yamaha are pretty good for part interchangeability, I wouldn't be surprised if something from a fazer or thundercat would fit, but that's based on nothing by supposition.

Depends why you need to replace it but you can get rebuild kits for around £20

I need to replace it because the current one has a fracture on the right side and spills fluid.
I've been looking at the FZR ones and they seem to be the exact

A method I use to find possible alternatives, is to search for the part number of the pads, to get a list of models that they fit.

For example, a search for FA104 cam up with:

Quote:

Gold Fren HH Sintered Brake Pads FA104HH
AD067, VD240, FDB386/R, SBS570
This pad will fit the following models:

RD125LC MK2/3 '85-87' Front
RZ125 '85' Front
TZR125 '87-89' Front
TZR125 '90-92' Rear
TZR125R '93 onwards' Rear
TZR150 '00' Rear
SDR200 (2TV) '87-89' Front & Rear
FZR250/R Rear
FZX250 Zeal (3YX1/2/4) '91-92' Rear
RZ250R (1AR/1XG) Front & Rear
RZ250R (29L) Rear
RZ250RR (51L) Front & Rear
SRX250 Front
TDR250 '88-92' Rear
TZR250 '87-94' Rear
RD350N/F/F2/R '85-95' Front & Rear
FZ400N '85' Rear
FZR400/R/RR/RSP '86-92' Rear
SRX400 '90-96' Rear
XJR400 '93-99' Rear
RD500LC '84-86' Rear
FZ600 '87-88' Rear
FZS600 Fazer '98-03' Rear
SRX600 '87-91' Front & Rear
XJ600N/S Diversion '92-03' Rear

So maybe a rear caliper from one of those might fit, apart from the mounting bracket maybe, which could possibly be swapped?

wrong on this one. Probably the only bike in the Yamaha range that didn't have any interchangeable parts.

I tried this method, and found a replacement, the only difference was asthetics. Thank you Very Happy that was a really useful post Thumbs Up
