hi All, just a quick one, and wondered if you had any advice.

I have managed to snap a bolt at the bracket where the exhaust enters into the engine, Any advice of how to get this out?

tia

Assuming you mean a snapped stud, where the exhaust bolts to the cylinder head, then it depends how much is still sticking out.

If some of it is still sticking out, then exhaust off and get some locking mole grips on the stud and try to unscrew it. Penetrating oil will help.

If you can't get mole grips on it, drill it out. Get some cobalt drill bits and cutting fluid, and drill steady.

Replace with a normal stud - don't be tempted to use stainless steel, they snap more easily and are a pain in the arse to drill out. I recommend using brass nuts - 5 years down the line when the exhaust needs to come off and the stud is rusted, the threads on the brass nut will strip before you snap the stud.

Another piece of 20:20 hindsight: next time I need to remove old steel exhaust nuts, it'll be with a dremel.
