Fingers crossed Thumbs Up

Love the science, not so keen on the theatrics.

I have been following in the Telegraph website and they posted up a soundclip of what comets sound like. Very similar to a dolphin!

Fascinating stuff, I love it!

I read that the thruster used to hold the robot to the surface of the comet has failed to prime so they are going to rely on the harpoon and claws... That sounds like it could work well... not. I predict it fires the harpoon which ends up changing its trajectory and the robot misses.

Pushing the comet into an irretrievable collision course with Earth... Very Happy

in theory its traveling in a vacuum so should be fine
but as the comet vents gas & dust it could well get blown off
they said they were looking at trying the drills again but with no thrust pushing down they may just spin and not penetrate the surface

Although the harpoons failed, the screws have helped quite a lot.

As for it floating off...fingers crossed that the minimal amount of gravity is enough to keep it there!
Earth = 9.78 m/s²
Moon = 1.622 m/s²
Comet = 10^-3 m/s²

it depends on what you define as sound (I'm a sound engineer)
we perceive sound as waves radiating at frequency's moving air molecules
detected by our ears, but waves & frequency's still exist they just react different (or don't react in some cases)
like waves in water you can have waves generated by sound

the old conundrum if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it
does it make a sound Thinking

otherwise is it just an electromagnetic wave changing amplitude or frequency
if there is nothing there to intercept it and understand it as an event

I love science

but at what cost ?

1.4 billion Euros, thanks for asking.

The UK's "service charge not included" surprise bill from Brussels this year: 2.16 billion Euros.

I'd rather blow it up than see it swilled into the trough.
