Hi Guys,

Any tips/comments/pointers on bike security? I've got a beast of a chain/padlock/ground anchor at home so that's fine but just wondered what people used/recommended when they go out on their precious bikes? I was looking at disc locks but wasn't sure about them. I'd be too worried about forgetting they were on (I know you can get those reminder cables).

I was thinking about a lighter chain for when I'm out but then it's the pain of having to carry a chain out and about. Plus chains seem to be easy enough to cut through with the right set of bolt cutters.

My bike has the usual sort of stearing lock but no alarm. It's a CB125F, which probably isn't the most sought after bike but a) I'd be really gutted if it did get pinched and b) Gotta make it as hard as possible for those thieving bastads out there!

It's not the weight that counts it's the construction, you could make a chain out of lead, heavy but could cut it with a bread knife.

We can whip our chains out and compare girth if you like.

Nazi Tractor, I carry 2m x 16mm of anchor chain.

Enfield, 2m x 13mm anchor chain.

It's largely a visual deterrent - my goal is to have the Caponord parked next to my bike nicked instead. He even leaves me space against the fence to lock on to if he gets in first, the fool. Bwahahahaah.

If they're anything like mine, the alarm will often only go off after you hear/feel that dreaded 'clunk' as you attempt to ride off. Embarassed

Cable reminders are the way to go. Thumbs Up

And the whole world and his army will come running whenever they go off, just like they do when a car or house alarm goes off Wink
