Odd request perhaps but I ride every day to and from work, around 20 miles round trip. It's not massive journey, probably half an hour max each way.

Doing this journey every day is getting boring and frankly I sometimes feel like taking the tube just for a change of scenery.

I've tried taking different routes to change it up a bit but that gets boring too after a while.

Other than getting a new bike, what would you suggest to spice up my commutes?

Ride with left hand on right handlebar and vice versa! Thumbs Up

Or, take the tube one time and you'll remember why taking the bike is awesome.

Go through a park or a posh bit.

I used to commute 11 miles Docklands to Chelsea, and made a point of going up The Mall and past Buck Pal. Sometimes I'd change it and go along St James instead, another day, another royal palace Laughing

I'm off work at the moment, but my current job takes me thru Regents Park: zoo noises. Fun.

Do the whole commute like this - https://youtu.be/B4KqJYDwxsk

Alternatively, listen to some podcasts/audible books or something?

I used to take a slight diversion and do a lap or two of the TT course before or after work.

Alas, that's a little to far out of the way nowadays. Crying or Very sad

You could still try to find some nice roads and make a challenge to improve your time and take the bends quicker and better though. Thumbs Up

Each day, choose a different make of car, and see how many mirrors you can kick off from only that make.

Every day on the way home, pick a car and follow it as far as you can (bonus points if you park on their driveway too)

Try by pushbike a couple of times a week, motorbike a couple of times, the tube occasionally.
Basically mix it up a bit.
I have one route to work (I'm usually last minute, and stay in bed as long as possible), but at least four to return, depending on the weather, time I've available and lots of other factors.
When I've done it on a motorbike I've been known to do a 200 mile detour on my return journey, just for the sake of it. (I usually use my push bike)

Car mode > Play the 'I'm not letting you out game'

In which no matter how awkward it gets, edge yourself forward and simply block people at their junctions / never let anyone out. (I don't mean block people if they are going another direction e.g. across the road, that would be horrific, just so they aren't in front of you. Wink )

Bonus points for making eye contact as you sit there like a complete cunt.

Do your commute on someone else's motorbike? Wink
Or pick a different one to go home on each day? Laughing

Seriously, Id sometimes use the Train/tube/bus etc (20miles is a bit silly for an average persom to cycle twice a day)

I like the train sometimes, and I can zonk out and go to sleep or just sit an watch other people and their strange habbits!
