Been sweltering away in textiles for the last two summers and finally decided to push the boat out and treat myself to a set of Dainese leathers - no monkey suit though, i prefer seperates.

I ummed and ahh'd about whether to get the perforated stuff or not - turns out they only had the jacket in the size i needed in perforated so i went with that ... figure i can always add a layer if i get a bit parky. Rode in this morning, ok it's a bit on the cool side but the increase in airflow through the Jacket is a very welcome change. The vents in my RST textile gear are simply no match for this. For once, i'm not going to drown in a suit full of my own sweat when i ride back in the afternoon heat later on Thumbs Up

So that's me happy - textile stuff for the colder months and this for the warmer ones. Going to get a zip converter made so i can zip the RST textile jacket to the Dainese leathers.

Both of my coolest jackets are textile.
For maximum airflow I have a Frank Thomas XTI mesh jacket.
Can only wear it on the very hottest of days 25 degrees plus but it feels like riding in a vest airflow wise.
If it's not super scorchio, then I have a Richa all season jacket which is ventilated very well, but still provides
a little warmth. And in third place my Weise perforated leather jacket. Some airflow to chest panels but still
a big and heavy jacket and can add thermal liner if necessary.

Fitment made the biggest difference for me.
I have a leather jacket which is a 44 inch, im about a 39-40. Ive lost a bit of weight since i got it, but it was always too big.
Recently picked up a JTS leather jacket on ebay, size 38-40 (twin zips) and made a huge difference. No flapping in the wind, much, much warmer, but seems more breathable in stand still traffic on a hot day.

I have always found my textiles cooler than my two piece and that fits like a glove.

The leathers are pretty heavy though with minimal vents. I find the Goretex breathes much better, no way I could wear the leathers to work on a hot day I would be stinking Smile

(Extra Shiny added by your correspondent).

Lewis "Originals", rather than high end Lewis Leathers. Surely an innocent and non-actionable trademark mix-up. Whistle

For all that it only cost something like £45 new, it's surprisingly decent. Thin leather, loads of panels with suspect stitching, but I'm only wearing it when I'd otherwise be in a kevlar string vest or similar.

An ex of mine worked for Lewis Leathers as a stitcher years ago, they had quite a good rep then.

It's not made by Lewis "Leathers" though. Shhh!

I only went out for a quick ride but wore my oxford base layers under my textiles (RST Blade) and only found myself getting warm (including walking around) when stuck in traffic on the way home.

Much prefer base layers over normal clothes, far more comfortable and bearable.

Always decided against leathers as (a) it's never warm enough long enough to justify new gear altogether as opposed to taking out the thermal layers in my textiles and (b) I've always questioned what I'd look like on a 125 with leathers (although wearing a bright agv helmet probably looks just as out of place Laughing).

Therefore not as good a quality as Lewis Leathers were.

Im the same, hate the heat with my textiles.
Im have bought motocross body armour, and will remove it from the string elastic jumper it comes on and have it sewn to a kevlar lines hoody with my denim cutoff over the top.
Post-apocalyptic look with max airflow.
Gonna do the same with some knee/hip armour and kevlar combats too.

Plus it cost a lot less than a semi decent textile jacket.

Inb4 ; squid with road rash etc

Well, since we've dropped the thin veil of civility, I'd go with Laughing that you reckon you bought an £800 Lewis Leathers jacket for a tenner.

I've been spending way too much time in the kitchen. My first thought was "just wear an apron, you won't get grease on 'em!" Embarassed
