Hey guys,

I'm approx 6"5 and I'm looking for what will be my first bike.

I'm looking at spending £1000 give or take £250. (So I'll be buying second hand)
I like the aesthetics of the Honda CBF125, but it doesn't look very suitable for people with long legs, am I correct?
If so is there any similar bikes which may be suitable for a tall person?
(The Honda Varadero get's a lot of praise however it seems that it will be out of my price range.)

Is there anything out there? Or does it look like I'll have to go down the trail bike route?

Cheers.

Perhaps you missed this?
I do like the look of the Varadero but I can't stretch my budget enough to afford the prices people want for them Sad .

It depends on what the long term intention is
Trail type bikes seem to have steal me! written all over them
If you can't afford a canyonero just get cheap shitter to practise on
pass test then the world's your lobster.

I'm 6'3" well endowed in the midriff and have ridden manys a 125 Ok and still ride my lads Kymco 125 (with L plates!)
but then, I'm past caring what others think.

Well I'm only 19 so unfortunately the world isn't entirely my "lobster" quite yet. The chances are I'll be on a 125 for a fair while.

Fortunately most of my height does come from the torso, my legs are still longer than average though...

Looks like I'm just gonna have to have a wander round for a while and see what's out there. Do a few sit-tests, kick a few tyres and whatnot...

2 Hour drive. But I won't be able to use motorways on the way back (Since I'll be a learner when I get the bike.) I'd get a nice ride through the peak district though.

A2 test, don't waste your time on a tiddler.

Before you start with the "I don't need or want a bigger bike", we've heard it many many times, but rarely from someone who's tried one.

I am 6'4" and bought myself a cheap honda CG125 for a few months until I'm 24 in July and then I'm doing my DAS. I look ridiculous on it but I don't care as its giving me good road experience!

I'm 6ft6. I had the same issue. I was looking at the Varadero, but it was too expensive.

I picked up a Honda XR 125 6l for £1100. Fits really well, is comfy and is really fun to ride on the rural roads up here.

Some danger of being mistaken for a normal sized person riding an MSX a bit further away.

When I was looking for a bike I called a garage that had a varadero for sale and the guy said "sorry it's now sold but we have an MSX which is suitable for tall riders". Tell you anything for a sale!

I'd recommend the Suzuki dr125 sm, I'm 6ft3 and it's the right size for tall people. The Yamaha wr125 also decent but more expensive.

As others have pointed out don't waste to much on a 125 though, better to save it for a proper bike once you pass the test.
