Hi there, just a quick question for you all?

Bar end mirrors, are they any good/worth getting. Are they practically any better, or is it simply aesthetic?

Ta Thumbs Up

Had a single right hand side bar end mirror that had a vertical arm and removed normal mirror. Check the ladt pages of the 125 bikea thread in picturws to my bike and which murror i had fitted. made filtering easier and I never got deaded so would recommend giving then a try.

Bar end mirrors that stick out sideways however suck for filtering. Lasted 1 day before they got removed and ebayed.

I've got just one bar end mirror on the right. Pretty good and they're better than I thought they'd be, also looks better imo. Haven't had a problem with filtering so far.

It depends how you find the stock mirrors. The stock ones on my ZX10R are fine, but the stock mirrors on the Street Triple were far too narrow for me, I couldn't see anything except elbow and shoulder. Having the mirrors slightly wider and more angled means you can actually see traffic behind you. For filtering, you can just flick them in.

There are two main styles (and a myriad of others, a longer one that pivots on a ball at one end, I have this sort fitted to my Divvy at the moment, like so:

And the Oberon style ones which I had fitted to my CBR, like so:

Of the two I'd go for the Oberon style in most cases, they're slightly convex so give a much wider view than you would expect. They moved about far less than my current ones too.

I have the oval shaped ones on the BMW, they're not bad but I found at brisk speeds (100+) they do fold back a little bit and need adjusting. Also, for reasons beyond me the left one is turning a bronze-y sort of colour but the right one is still black. Made with plide in China I guess...

On the plus side they do still give decent rearward vision when adjusted properly, plus they make filtering far easier.

Smallest Stalk has them on her bike, when I took them off and fitted standard mirrors that lasted 2 days before going back to bar ends. She had mirrors full of elbow with standard, clear view with bar ends. Can't comment about filtering.
