Was out for another lesson today in preparation for my mod 2 on Wednesday, this time on a Diversion rather than the Gladius I have been on. While it fitted my 6'6" frame a bit better I found it a bugger to get the revs right. Several times I found myself having to shift down when the Gladius would have been fine and actually spacked it uip badly enough on a few occasions that I stalled it pulling away.

Overall the inline 4 felt a lot revvier (is that a word?) than the v-twin, is that how it normally works?

Exactly that is how it works. IL4 is more forgiving than Gladius in the sense you do not have the massive engine braking power of the twin. Theorethically that should be better for Mod 2.

In practice I like more the Gladius. If you are used to the Gladius just ask the school to give you Gladius for the Mod 2. Gladius slow control and start are better due to the more low revs torque. With the IL4 you need to work more the revs and the clutch, the Galdius does not need any clucth work whatsoever.

I love that bike Embarassed

What he said; ask for the bike you're more at home with for your test. I got a different bike for mine and I was initially at sixes and sevens so I can tell you it doesn't help.

Just get through the noddy test as comfortably as you can then jump on other bikes as and when we have a ride out (No you're not having a go on mine)

Have you decided to get a proper bike or is your heart still set on tassels and chaps?

Ta for the responses, will bear that in mind when looking at future bikes (not really looking until I actually have the license).

Rox: Considering something cheap that won't make my wallet cry if I drop it. Then maybe a street triple but all speculation until I go try them on.
