I have a datatool 3 installed on my 636 and its a bit tempermental.

The alarm itself is kinda quiet but works fine but I'm having problems with the activation/deactivation beeps that go off when pushing the keys on the remote.

Some times it beeps and then it will stop working for a few days then works again, I'm guessing it could be loose wiring but I have no idea where to look, does anybody have an idea?

Loose power connection, or more likely.... its a Datatool so it doesn't work.

I know it's no use now, but if you have a choice with a different bike in the future, use one of these https://www.motorbikealarm.co.uk/shop/ncs-v2-motorbike-alarm-and-immobiliser-system/

Get it removed and then take a big hammer and smash it to bits.

I had a datatool and it was crap. I used to have to press the button like 10 times to get it to work. I fit a new battery and still the same. It would go off for no reason at times, normally in the middle of the night and I doubt how much it would deter a good thief.

I paid a garage £50 to remove it. You may be able to do it yourself as I have seen a few online guides but I couldn't be arsed to research it.

Do you need an alarm? I would only fit another alarm if I had to park on the street and would probably get one like billy just posted. If it's in a garage then have a look at enfield garage door bolts. I have them and rate them highly. Very secure but discreet so as not to advertise that something expensive may be in the garage.

That potentially sounds like the alarm is dying, I've had two Datatool alarms do that. It could be that it's gone in to sleep mode (I think you hold a fob button down while turning the ignition on to take it out of sleep mode), or it could just be duff.

If you need to remove the alarm it's not too hard, just follow the black wires and solder the bike's wiring back together where the datatool wires splice in to it.

If it is going into sleep mode then that could be a sign that the bikes main battery is going flat. It uses sleep mode to reduce drain on your bikes battery.

on their website there is instructions on how to de-spike them

https://www.datatool.co.uk/PDF/discondatatool/System3-DeSpiking.pdf

there is a bit of a troubleshooting guide in the instructions

https://www.datatool.co.uk/PDF/discondatatool/System3-UserGuide.pdf

personally I'd fuck it off, it's ancient and they don't last, take the lid off the alarm and remove the connectors from the PCB, one of them has six connectors in a row, number them from 1 to 6 either way, then connect 1 to 2, then 5 to 6, this will bypass the immobilisers, tape the rest up and throw the alarm away, you will find it goes off and won't disarm so drop it in a bucket of water

Typical pre-failiure symptoms. Get it removed or join a good breakdown service.

Rip the lid off an link circuits 1 and 2.
