What's a good make for worming tablets for cats please? I've just been around a mates and his cat's way too thin.
"When was the last time you wormed her"? I said,
"Whats worming"? Said he
The cat in question is being fussy with her food though which I thought was unusual if she needs worming.....I wondered if she was maybe being fed elsewhere ____________________ Space Is Deep |

With my dogs, I used to put the tab on the back of the tongues, shut their mouths, and then rub the throat gently to make them swallow. I take it this routine is not so easy with cats?
As you can tell, I've never wormed a cat before ____________________ Space Is Deep |

Which make do you use Cansa? I remember trying cheapo ones with the dogs a couple of times and they were complete rubbish, I'm presuming it's the same with chats. Also, I bet there are a bunch of fake ones around How long to take effect with cats? ____________________ Space Is Deep |

Cheers.
I know all about fleas - me and a mate rented a lovely thatched cottage in the late '80s. We had a deal with the landlord that we'd clean the place up after the previous tennnants and he'd let us off a deposit.
What we didn't know was that the previous owners were both members of the Animal Liberation league, (Front?), and used the place to house various "liberated" animals along with their pets. They had several dogs and cats but they also had a donkey in the back garden and the girl was into RATS big time She had started with a pair of bought albino rats and gone on to housing rats that had been liberated from gawd knows where, possibly infected with gawd knows what. The entire cottage was heavily infested with all types of nasty insects but, by far the baddest were rat fleas......rat fleas the size of small elephants They were so big, you could see them jumping. We would leave a bowl of water out over night and , in the morning, there would be a lot of drowned fleas floating on the surface. My mate had to move out, after a couple of days..... the infestation was driving him mental.
The previous tenants had also kept the cats and dogs in one room while they went into town and, instead of cleaning up the mess when they got back, they had just chucked another carpet on top of it all....so there was a 5 layer sandwich of carpet and dog/cat shit....and piss of course
We got the place cleaned......eventually, but it took a lot of work. We had to gut the cottage, burn the old furniture and get all the eggs that were behind the skirting boards and floor boards. Them rat fleas though man....they were real monsters
I don't like to see people that don't deal with their pets fleas, esp dogs. I don't think these people can realise what it's like for the poor animals, especially in this heat ____________________ Space Is Deep |

Mrs Borg is correct, Broadline covers pretty much all your bases parasite-wise.
It is a prescription medicine so you can only obtain it through a vet and the animal needs to be "under the care" of that vet for him to legally dispense it. Not all will stock it but they will all stock an alternative which is effective (as well as broadline, we stock drontal cat tablets and profender spot-on, both of which will effectively worm a cat).
I take a fairly loose approach to interpreting "under my care" when it comes to worm and flea treatments but some vets will want to have seen the cat at some point in the last 12 months before dispensing any prescription medicines as a matter of policy.
You can get drontal cat tablets over the counter at a pharmacy (most chemists stock them). They MIGHT even have some spot-on wormers.
Tableting a cat IS just like tableting a dog, only a lot sharper.
I'd suggest either a prescription wormer from a vets or at least one from a pharmacist to cover tapeworms. You can buy tape wormers over the counter from pet shops but they aren't necessarily all that good and are usually a PITA to give (as in they need multiple doses) ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. It's so helpful having a vet in the family, especially one as lovely as Stinkers ... even if he is a bastard moderator.

Never understood why vets suggest mixing it in with food, I've never had a single cat in 30 years that hasn't took one sniff at tainted meat and looked at me like "yeah like fuck am I eating that".
We use panacur - dissolve it into 5ml water, suck up with syringe, blast into cats mouth before it knows what him 'em, reward with dreamies to wash it down with.
Combined with Advocate for full worm/flea coverage.

So what's the oidds of the Drontal on eBay being genuine? |
It's rated as an NFA-VPS so they don't need a prescription but do need to be supplied by a "suitably qualified person." ie a pharmacist, a vet or someone who has been on a training course.
Ebay is almost certainly not a legal medium for the supply of such things but we're getting a bit out of my area of knowledge there. Also, as far as I can see, in breach of ebay listing policy. They only allow GSL (general sales list) products, drontal is in the band above that.
So I'm pretty sure they are breaking at least one law and breaching ebays own regulations by selling drontal there.
There are online pharmacies. Anyone who supplies drontal should at a minimum be taking the identity, age, sex, breed and weight of the animal they are being supplied for. Like this one.
