Can anyone recommend a rear tyre for my YBR125, its an 07 model with tubeless tyres and im not sure which tyres to buy? Cheers.

I used Metzeler ME22. Silly amounts of grip, but didn't last beyond 4,000 miles. But for £33 it's probably not a major issue Smile

I use Michelin Pilot Street tyres. Pilot Sports used to be the one to go for (from what I've read) but they have been discontinued in YBR sizes. I get plenty of grip from my Pilot Streets and they seem to be lasting well!

Where is the best place to buy tyres from? I'm looking at either pilot sporty\street or metzeler tyres. Are metzeler tubeless or tubed? If a tyre is tubed do you have to use a tube or can it be used tubeless? Cheers.

Last 4 years, I've been buying my tyres online. You can always find the best deal and go with it. Never buy tyres at the shops that also change them, they always put ridiculous prices on those. Thumbs Up

Metzelers are both, tubed and tubeless, just buy specifically tubeless tyres. If you've got a tubeless tyre and use tube in it, there's no harm in that. I have experience with FMX and MZ, both run tubes, and I put tubeless tyres with tubes in them on those.

I don't know about tubed tyre without the tube, but I think it won't hold the air pressure with out the tube. Thumbs Down

Basically 99% of tyres today are tubeless. Thumbs Up

I got mine from Oponeo.co.uk. Delivery times were quick and it matched the cheapest price I'd seen elsewhere. Wemoto have also increased their YBR tyre range but I don't think they stock the Pilot Street tyres.

Worth checking your rims are tubeless as well - its quite common for wheels to get damaged and replaced with tubed ones. I think it says on the spokes. Mine had a set of tubeless tyres fitted with an inner tube and they held air okay so it can certainly be done that way round.

RhynoCZ - Whats the advantage of doing this? I'd of thought its a risky move as the inner tube would rub on the inside of the tubeless tyre, which generally isnt very smooth and could wear the inner tube right through.

Also, make sure you give the rims a good coat of rim sealant - mine were fairly corroded and it was difficult to get a good seal on the tyre.

There is some rubbing, yes. But, my mate and I did quite a considerable amount of miles on tubeless tyres on spoked wheels and we even had to change the tyres couple of times and the tube was always alright.

When you see a good deal on a set of tyres here, it's in 99% of cases on a set of tubeless tyres. So it's a bit of, being lazy/cheap to find proper tubed tyres. Just like UK-ers use car engine oil instead of motorcycle oil, because they think the extra money is not worth it. And they are right, in some cases. Smile

Plus one for ME22...

Got nearly 10k out of the rear - front one's still going strong. (Mostly dual carriageway NSL, so rear was pretty squared-off too) Cheap as chips - better to get the wheel off and take wheel and tyre to a shop for fitting.

(Aaaaand - an MOT fail as both of mine had been fitted on the wrong way round. There's a double ended arrow - which would suggest it doesn't matter. but one end of the arrow says 'front' and the other 'rear') s luck would have it... both wrong way round. Even when i took it back to the tyre shop, he was still scratching his head looking at it. Rolling Eyes
