I have been noticing ticking/tapping noise more and more recently in the hot weather. It gets quite prominent when the bike is hot. It could be nothing, just normal valves doing their thing or it could be something. Either way it is annoying me. Any ideas ?

Cam chain tensioner ? valves ? or just the normal yamaha tick (real/myth). Leaking gasket at the headers?

Hard to be sure from the video, but I can just about perceive what sounds like an exhaust gasket tick. Certainly worth changing exhaust gaskets before you start pulling the engine apart to fit a problem that isn't there.

Protip for exhaust gasket changes. Make sure the area where the gasket seats is clean before fitting the new one - they get filthy with soot and corrosion, preventing the new gasket from sealing well. Also put some grease on the new gaskets to glue them in place while you refit the manifold, otherwise you can find yourself trying to do a job that needs 6 hands.

Yeap, exhaust header. Far left. Tightened the nut and no noise so far.

My thunderpussy ticks but only now and then, took it to my trusted mechanic as I feared and he assured me everything was fine, exhaust fine, cct fine, valves fine. Just a Yamaha thing being only now and then, something to do with shims rotating
