windows vista forgotten password

hi

pulled out my old laptop and can't remember the password. no other accounts to log into. have googled, downloaded ISO files burnt onto discs, nothing seems to work.

the laptop still has the original sticker with the 25 digit code. can i wipe it, reinstall vista and use the original code?

Can you not boot into safe mode and deactivate the password?

yes you can.

you could also try downloading hirens boot cd, and try the password reset utility

It is Vista though, wipe and non-legit Win7. Fix all the issues in one.

It's not going to be a useful gaming machine (especially with Vista) and I can't think why else you'd run Windows. Mint / Lubuntu FTW.
