Bike: 2004 CB1300

The locking mechanism on my petrol filler cap stopped working on me earlier. After several minutes at the filling pump I managed to get it open, so I have one tank of petrol for now.

I can get the key in, but it won't turn. I've squirted some WD40 in there and will leave it to soak, but honestly it's seen better days.

Is it just worth replacing it now before I end up stranded at a petrol station somewhere unable to fill up?

Never use WD40 on locks, use graphite powder. Thumbs Up

I actually lost the petrol filler cap on my NC 700 a few weeks ago - I had to buy a new one from Honda for the princely sum of £35 however in the interim I used one of these - It done the trick better than I expected, pretty tight fit too. Might be worth picking one up just incase the graphite powder doesn't work?

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

I'm going to try the graphite powder and see how that holds up.

I recommend chain lube for stiff locks. Has helped with a few of mine.
