 |
|
So, the old man wants a big bike now, so I am trying to help him out, but don't know much about this style of bike.
What he wants is a cruiser looking bike that will do well for long road trips and tours round Europe.
He likes the look of the Triumph America LT.
Any advice on alternative bikes/ decent bikes for that type of riding etc?
Thank you all

Or even a Legend.
There's no replacement for displacement.
Although the Bonneville America ought to be fairly agile. I believe they kept the same frame geometry and riding position as the original bonneville customs which were generally well regarded. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. Thank you for your help will get him to have a look at them. He quite likes the look and feel of the custom handle bars being future back, like the America LT?
Are there are any other manufactures that compete with this style?

I'd suggest he doesn't base his choice of bike soley on a £30, interchangeable componant.
Within reason*, you can put whatever style bars you want on a cruiser type bike with handlebar clamps on the top yoke.
*If they controls are significantly further away from the top yoke than they are on the standard ones, you may have trouble getting the hoses and cables to reach. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. I don't know much about that bike, but foot plates I had on a couple of my Goldwings and loved them. You can move your feet around to different positions to relieve aches and pains on long journeys.
If you can get used to heel toe gear shifts they are fine. ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

Hi I've an 2011 America, although mine has footpegs, and not footplates.
Anyhow, lovely bike to ride, reasonably high ground clearance for the style of bike, and quit nimble. Well, at least when compared to my VTX1300 that has long since gone.
As for longish distance, I've made return trips to Cardiff, London, Hull and few other places from Wolverhampton, without any problems. ____________________ Beware what photos you upload, or link to on here, especially if you have family members on them |

Hello. Just admiring your sig. What do you think of the Mash 400? How long have you had it etc?
I ask because stumbled across one on ebay and it looked great.
Do you know what MPG you get? |
