Not really in need of help, just something I noticed.
I never used to notice this program. I seem to be spending a lot of time updating it these days. *
So. Reckon they are just finding it to be increasingly full of security holes or are they short on cash and hoping enough people will forget to un-check the "install mcaffee" box to get a little more spending money?
Security being the claimed issue, surely one of the riskiest things you can do to your PC in terms of security is to download an executable file from the internet and grant it admin privilages?
*No I'm not setting it on automatic, all my major IT problems in recent years have been a result of auto-updating software, most recently skype nearly resource-hogged the mobo on one of our PCs into oblivion and would have if I hadn't heard the fan in vertical take-off mode for about ten minutes from across the office) ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. Still sometimes uses mozilla and a flash plugin and tantrums if it's out of date. Just without the driveby macaffee downloads and pestering. Also using a Debian remix, stuff tends not to be put out there is it's unstable.
It's the work ones I have to keep on top of though. Only six PCs (three of which shouldn't be browsing the web anyway) but still a PITA. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

It's the fallout from this spyware company that was hacked, ironically named 'The Hacking Team'. There are documents that say they used vulnerabilities in Flash to gain control of target machines. Apparently the Hacking Team sold software to governments of the more dodgy persuasion to keep an eye on their citizens...

but didn't see it till after I posted
I worked for Adobe as a contractor debugging there software in late 99 early 2k checking the foreign language versions menu's and drop down boxes worked
was a great job as we were taught all the functions of photoshop, illustrator and a few other packages that I still use
and I have a life time license to update for free as I still file reports on any issues
TBH flash is my only issue the CS suite is one software package I'd pay to have
because its the best you can get for image and video editing at a pro level IMHO ____________________ I have become comfortably numb
