Ground anchors

Evening all, just about to go out on the bike and went to open the garage door to find one of the corners bent up. So am looking at ground anchors for some extra security. But the choice out there is beyond me. So just wondering what is a decent ground anchor or extra garage security to invest in?

You look to be located near a fishing harbour or at very least not too far from a hardware supplier for fishing boats.

From the harbour or supplier, buy a big old (and I mean big) galvanised shackle and concrete it in to you driveway or wherever, buy a length of big (and again I mean big) old galvanised anchor chain from same source.

Shackle and chain from fishing boat stock will not be expensive, a padlock that is equal to the shackle or chain will not be as relatively cheap.

If you mount the shackle top flush with the top of the floor, leaving a recess big enough for the chain to go through the shackle, then you need not clutter your floor with a projecting shackle top to trip on or foul anything else on.

Ive bought a house without a garage, but with two parking spaces out front.

They're paved with bricks. Would I have to dig these up then pour concrete down to set up a ground anchor? Or will any setup be sufficient by drilling straight into the ground?

Delsol im surrounded by fishing harbours, that's a really good idea about the chain and all from them. I know what I'm going to be doing on Sunday then. Well that and having a chat with a couple of mates who are well known in the thriving scum world and get them to find out who needs a bit of a slap.

buy a large metal bin

fill said bin full of concerete stick the loop from the harbour into the bin

lock the bike to that

will be hard work lifting the bike and the bin into a van

A few strategically placed stanley knife blades should help to stop the corner of your garage door being bent again.

that Yanchor one looks good... going to need to be investing in an anchor soon when we move because no garage. just a shed in the corner of our small drive on the roadside. figured an anchor under the floor there would be decent enough.

I'm not far from that asda mentioned on their page either, might go check them out

Cemented in with hardcore and rebar, 10mm steel running weld inside an out.
