Abit of a basic one, but I'm stuck on this one and can't for the life of me figure it out despite my best attempts to "Google" it and search through BCF.

Basically, my bike won't idle (choke or no choke, dies after letting go of the throttle) after some work I've done on it recently. I recently serviced the carbs and paid special attention to the pilot jet, ensuring there was no crap lodged in there. While servicing the carbs , after a couple of hours of adjustment, I managed to get the mixture screws in the right positions as the bike was showing all the symptoms of running rich previously.

While there, I did all the other maintenance bits and pieces except carb balancing and valve clearances.

Back on the subject of the idling problem, I've tried fiddling around with the idle screw to no avail. I can't think of what else could be the problem, I'm of the understanding that idle problems are usually associated with blocked pilot jets which is why I'm slightly confused as to what the problem could be.

Bike is a CB400 SF NC31

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Double check the jets, they have to be IMMACULATELY SPOTLESS! Check the floats are free, no splits in the intake rubbers. Getting the carbs balanced will help a great deal, even if you balance them roughly while they are off.
What carb cleaner are you using? I can't recommend using wurth carb treatment enough. I've had bikes running without even taking the carbs off with it (leaving it in the carbs for 24 hours, drain it out, fresh petrol and run)
How old is the petrol in the tank?
