Hi guys, I'm planning on fitting a ground anchor but am unsure if this ground is suitable does it look like it would do the job of holding an anchor down? (I know virtually nothing about concrete)

I'll try to use a corded hammer drill with the 16mm bit but I have a feeling it might take a good while...

Thanks for any help

Hire/borrow an SDS drill, or better still SDSmax.
Wont take long with one of those.
Electro pneumatic is where it's at.
Percussion hammer drills (the type typically used for home use) are toys in comparison.

Concrete looks sound but depends on how thick it is...something you won't know until you drill it. 100mm minimum but 150mm better, if it's on vehicle hard standing it should be 150...

And +1 for SDS with a bit as wide as that, hire one locally and they'll supply the bit too...will sink into that concrete with ease

I installed my Y-anchor the old school way, with a pickaxe.

Once you concrete in a ground anchor you come to realise that anyone nicking your bike will attack the chain or the bit sticking out of the ground. The quality of the concrete mix/depth of concrete isn't really as important as you might think.

I would want to lift that inspection cover (if that's what it is) and see how deep the branches are, and what direction they go, before drilling.

If that concrete turns out to be just a thin crust over soft earth or gravel, you may have to dig deeper than you thought to make the anchor mountings secure.
