Hi,
Still Dithering over getting my full licence, I can't really afford it plus it's difficult to get time off work. My CBT runs out soon and theory test has another 6 months to run.

What I'm wondering is: If I get an A1 licence (which I can take on my existing 125) will I have to re-take a CBT if I do DAS? I can't seem to find any answers online as the A1 is only mentioned with respect to teenagers, and couldn't get through the DVSA switch board today for some reason.

The A1 would actually help me out a bit, but I wouldn't want to fork out £100 for that, just to fork out another £100 for CBT in the next 6 months, just to do DAS.

Any ideas?

It doesn't look like you'd need your CBT, but it does look like you'll need a valid theory test certificate.

This.

If you have a valid theory still in date use that. If not then I know from A2 to A you need a theory if you have not been A2 for over 2 years. No theory needed if you have had a full A2 for 2 years.

Not sure if the same applies for A1 going to A2 but I would assume so.

You do not need a CBT.

I called up the school to double check this and they assured me that I don't need a theory certificate to upgrade from A2 to A in either circumstance.

Will be calling again if this isn't the case because I'm going to book my tests next week and will certainly not be pleased if I get turned away from the test centre on the day due to being given false information.

Do you know if there's any discretion with this though? I was planning to take my mod 1 on 12 October but my licence isn't fully two years old until 18 October. I can't do mod 2 until 28th anyway, so that bit's academic but it does push my final (potential) pass date on another three weeks into November...
