A couple of years ago I bought a Yamaha SRX 600, it had an MOT when I bought it, I rode it for a few months until the MOT ran out then I Sorned it. It's been waiting to be restored for the last 18 months, I will get round to it when we've finished restoring our house.

Anyway, this afternoon I needed to get it moved into the garden shed, I got the cover and the locks off and a thought crossed my mind, "I'm going to start it"!
Now this is a 30 year old, 608cc, single cylinder bike with no electric foot, it's sat outside for 2 winters with just a cheap cover for protection, it's been covered in snow more than a couple of times and hasn't been started for a least 12 months.

Turn on ignition, a very weak glimmer from the neutral light, turn fuel tap to prime, apply choke, depress kickstart to engage decompressor and kick!

It started on the third kick and idled just fine straight away! Cool
Rode around the garden a couple of times then put it away!

Dog let us lie in until 9 without so much as a whimper. Whingey little mare usually starts nose singing at about 7. Laughing

Monday to Friday we get up at 6. She doesn't know the difference between weekend and weekday.
But yes it most certainly is like having a child. She has tantrums when thwarted and everything. It's her age,
she's in adolescence at the moment and due her first season anytime between now and October.
Not looking forward to blood gushing out of her minge all over my kitchen sofa. I haven't had her weighed
recently but the 'puppy' is at least 30kg now. She's totally taken over our lives. Am looking to change the car and
the van in the next few months as neither suits dog ownership particularly well, but when both were bought we
had no dog and no plans to get one. Now we've got one, may as well get her a furry little mate so will be looking for
another dog after she's been spayed.

Petrol/diesel in the Land of Beer is getting cheaper and cheaper. The Czech National bank decided to quit their efforts to devalue the CZK a few weeks back and today, or rather for the past few days, it's been finally showing at prices of fuel and I expect the prices of goods to go down as well.

So, more kilometers for the same money. Thumbs Up

Today I oiled some one else's gears. A friend of mine haven't changed the engine oil in his car for 8 years (did roughly 100,000km). The car sounded like a bag of spanners, the oil that came out of it was just 2 molecules from being molasses,... long story short I changed the oil filter, poured in fresh fully synthetic oil and the engine now sounds like brand new. Thumbs Up

Sounds like it needed a flush.

The engine needs more than that, so I told him to drive the car around and I'm gonna change the oil again soon. A flush would be a waste of money and time at this point. The fresh fully synthetic oil should disovle most of the old oil deposits inside the engine. The engine is just a 1.2L petrol, requiring 2.7L of oil, so I got 6L of oil to do the second oil change and since oil filters are cheap, I'm gonna replace that again as well.

Before the oil change, the engine ran very poorly. Not the engine performance/power output, but the way the engine felt + noise + the hydraulic tappets being very loud every now and then.
The fresh oil made the engine run smooth and quiet again.

Simple thing, but I've gone from bottom of my cohort at uni last year (mostly from apathy, partying and working too much) to getting placement recommendations passed to me before opened to the rest of my peers due to my attitude and performance.

Also, finally had a bike I've gelled with for over a year and learned how to change from 1-2-3 on one wheel.

Loved it

But it nearly crippled me

After a few days using it I woke up with an achey ankle
Tuesday last week got up and couldn't put any weight on my one leg

Was same for most of week I was walking about with a stick

Sunday I drove it and realised when not accelerating the angle my foot is at puts pressure on my ankle so it had to go

So braking(?), when else are you not accelerating in a car (except for when stationary obviously) Eh?

I understand if it's not right, I was worried whether my car would give me backache like the work van did, but luckily they actually made the seat with lumbar support.

My new driving license turned up today (change of address and replacement for "lost" license).

They seem to have photoshopped my photo. I look really hot! Even hotter in fact than before!

I can't wait to get pulled over now so I have to show it. Very Happy Very Happy

How/why do they do that?

*Only agree to black & white photography - takes years off you.
