There is a lot that is not great working in the gig economy. What is great, is thinking - "this weather is rather splendind" and sacking a couple more days off. Cool

Rode vanvan last night to a pub to meet up with some members of my motorcycle club, they were actual children when I joined, kids who sometimes were on the back of their parents bikes, now they are adults with jobs and their own bikes. Shocked

Today rode my dirt bike to get it jet washed, then went out on my road bicycle, then sat in the sunshine in my garden reading Private Eye, then went out running with my running club.

It was over 17 degrees here, in February.

I might start using that expression in my job interviews to cover what might be traditionally queried by potential employers as "irregular gaps in your employment" Laughing

Wonder how long till it can be used as a heading in a CV. Thinking

My CV is so shite, I doubt that anyone interviewing for a "traditional job" would ever hire me. Laughing

I've had a very gear-oiling sort of afternoon indeed.

1. A random lady stopped me to ask whether I did my own nails (no), turns out she is thinking of opening a nail bar at the end of my street. I may have said Woo-hoo! quite loudly.

2. Had a drink with a former colleague who wonders if I would like to help her roll out a new event platform for her medical conferences, starting in a few months time with not-much-work a week but potentially ending up quite busy, including international venues. We've done conferences together at the tail end of the 1990s so she knows she can trust me to keep the show floating whilst she has a temporary melt-down. Quite pleased, been wanting not only to get back into her "crew" for probably 15 years or so now, but also wanted to get some event-management skills on my CV for the longest time.

3. Whilst I was standing at the bar awaiting merlot, a really good looking guy of about 12 years old asked me what I thought was good on Netflix this week. (Who, me?) Its the hair dye, I tell you. They think I'm younger than their mums. So we chatted about American Vandal, and the umbrella thing.

Okay, he might have been 25, or even 27. Rolling Eyes
He had a lumberjack shirt on and everything.
If I was 30 years younger, he wouldn't have survived the evening.

Mr. Green

[slips on lumberjack shirt...sets the iron to delicates and applies to face. Only 2 hours and I'm ready for you]

Ahem...So after 3 days and nights I accomplished nothing during my time off work.

Let's remedy that.

Solvol autosol is your friend for fret polishing - don't forget to mask off the fretboard first though. Thumbs Up

We all have our ways.
On lacquered boards I use a fret slot and wirewool. If it's an ebony or rosewood board it's wirewool and a light application of F one oil...like lemon oil but doesn't stink of lemon or as greasy.

Doesn't happen often when all of the holy trinity are clean with new strings.
That day is now.

Went to visit a potential new dogging client.
Gorgeous little scruffbag Dizzy the dog, and his cat sister Gia.
And the gerbil ... but fortunately it's not allowed to roam about Laughing

The hilarious aspect of it is that the local appears to be The Blind Beggar.
So I lurked in there, coughed up NEARLY A FIVER !!!!! for a single G&T.

Mustn't grumble, there's a Greggs on the way to the station and a temptacious range of chicken shops, Asian sweet shops, sari stalls, jewellery, AND authentic curry houses, as well as the occasional hipsterish looking coffee shops dotted about.

I'm actually really excited to do this one.

I think I'll take myself on the Jack the Ripper tour while I'm there.
Cool

I remember taking myself on the walking tour, having found a brochure or something that told you the route, when I first arrived in 1984, but I never got round to going on the lecture walks. Might go on an actual talking one this time. Most of the places are probably gone by now, they were all still there when I went on me own back then.

Is it just my house where we routinely ask "who's going dogging?" when we mean "who's taking the dogs for a walk"? The word has kind of lost its real meaning here now, so if we forget we get raised eyebrows from visitors Shocked

It's £4.75 for a pint of Hop House 13 at my regular semi-middle of nowhere Bristol pub.

I'm in the same situation, but got two weeks to take before the end of March, so took this week where I shall mostly be giving the house a decorating, and sorting the garden (if the weather is nice) or going out on the bike (if the weather is nice). Also booked off the last week of March to avoid financial year and chaos and being roped into helping with stock taking Laughing
