A local business knows about my metal making things hobby - they are one of the places where just before Xmas I gave a small gift as a thank you (a metal cat). The business placed the cat behind the sales counter as an ornament.
Yesterday that business asked me if I would consider leaving some bits with them - customers are asking about the metal cat and it could have been sold a dozen times. They want to sell bits for me as a thank you for what I've done to help them in the past.
I call that a win!

That would certainly give me a good feline.

Bike flew through it's MOT today. Had it a year to the day too. Only done 10K miles, two sets of tyres, two sets of pads all round, one right hand cluster, one heated grip, one battery, 500ml of oil and some new dust caps. Not bad at all.

Then you said you'd just put a deposit down on a new Kawasaki H2R, and all the fuses blew Laughing

I ended up accepting the (lesser paid) secretary job cos they gave the other one to someone with more marketing experience. But in fact I don't mind.

Not only does it mean I can continue to wear jeans and trainers to work (the other job was in the Corporate offices so I'd have had to wear more businessy things) BUT ALSO I would have had to be there bang on 9am (and possibly earlier taking minutes at some board meeting or other) rather than getting away with strolling in somewhere between 9.30 and 10 Laughing

Plus, the faces already know and love me (or not) in this job as I've been temping it for four months. Even if there are shitty stressy parents who hate me because their children might die if I don't do what they want. Whereas in the other one I'd have to prove myself all over again, and REALLY I can't be bothered trying that hard, I'm 58...! When I think about it, I can't be arsed working that hard.

The money would have helped, and it would have looked good on my CV, I really did think that I wanted it, and it would have been interesting (as opposed to stressful, see gear grinding thread Laughing ) ... but at least this way I can still flirt with the two guys who interviewed me instead of possibly having to share an office with one of them and trying not to fart in their presence.

Anyway, cheers, new permanent job starting mid March, hoorah paid holidays, thank fuck. And just at the right time of year, easter bank hols, spring and summer bank hols, yay, Mondays off for free again.

Yeah it was yesterday rather than today but the look on Nobby's face when telling him what his 13 year old son uses as a safe word was entertaining.

Had a bottle of South African Shiraz.
Went home and snogged Mrs HT on the settee.

Currently pissed up like I know what I'm doing.

About to record a song I've been working on.

People are going nutso over this bike, if you believe the bike journos it's the second coming, especially in those colours.

I... don't... get it. I don't see the appeal. It's ugly and the colours look very like the corporate colours of a certain fast food chain.

Each to their own, if you like it great but I just don't see why there is this collective psychosis over them.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I'd not really seen the press before I saw it. Just happened across it in Fowlers when I was down in Bristol for the weekend. Looked very different compared to anything else in its class... Though it does seem to be getting good reviews. Then again, every bike does. There doesn't seem to be "bad" bikes any more. Certainly not from the mainstream manufcaturers.

Done my good deed for today!

Some lads were messing with an old scooter in the alley down the side of our office. They were wearing the compulsory uniform of the ne'er do well: black hoodies, trousers hanging down. So I rang 101...

Turns out the scooter was recently stolen and the owner only lives round the corner!

Now I'm just waiting to see who turns up first: the owner or the idiots Smile

The one thing I like about that is the way the screen fits over the headlamps. Having got used to fairly large speedo/tacho clusters above headlamps as I came into biking, bikes like, say, the XSR always look to me like something is missing.

Have to agree with MarJay on the colours - in red it might remind me a bit of the Ducati Hyperretard, which I like a lot. Lardier version though.

However, beauty is in the eye of the beerholder an' all that funky jazz Smile

Woo! Fireproof shed is nearing completion. Metal bench is in, most surfaces now painted and about two tons of basically useless junk is now gone.
Only one minor niggle - it feels cold in there because I have no piles of rubbish hugging me Sad
