Or more science.

Drivers are distracted or too comfy to care.

In 2013, 331 motorcyclists died and 4,866 were seriously injured in road collisions in Great Britain.

Motorcyclist KSIs have fallen since 2008 when 493 motorcyclists were killed and 5,556 were seriously injured on Britain's roads.

2008 = (493+5556)/365 = 16.572 killed or seriously injured per day
2013 = (331+4866)/365 = 14.238 killed or seriously injured per day

Quote:
30 motorcyclists are killed or injured every day at junctions

Errr, in what country? Considering KSIs at junctions should be less than 100% of the total.

The science is quite interesting and that troxler effect is pretty mad! Shocked

But I don't see it having too much real world effect to be honest. As interesting as those experiments are, they are designed in a certain way with specific colours, patterns and instructions to be effective.

When I pull up to a junction (regardless of whether I'm on a bike or in a cage), I don't tell my brain to focus on one spot for a few seconds - far from it! I'm looking all around and assessing everything I can see to make a judgement on when it's safe to proceed, there is a lot of processing and eye movement going on. I expect most other road users generally do the same too, in cases when they don't I'd think it was usually down to some form of distraction rather than staring at one point in some hypnotic state for too long and having the brain play some trickery on what can / can't be seen.
