So my beautiful Gixxer 750 got stolen last night from East London, it's probably already in a different country, but if anyone sees any fishy gixxer a please report it! Red number MF06 VRW, pretty standard all around except for a tail tidy and after market exhaust.

Had a disk lock, chain and padlock, data tool S3 alarm, still didn't help!

Also as a side note...I'm insured through MCE, I've already notified them it was stolen but haven't yet made a claim, I was reading my policy documents again and they put the total value of the bike as 300, instead of 3,000, even though on the phone I clearly said 3,000. Any advise on how to proceed? Being quite young, my insurance is already pretty high, in fact MCE was the only one willing to insure on gixxer 750, if I make a claim, I'm guessing my insurance will sky rocket?

They'll pay you the market value of the bike i would imagine, irrelevant of what's written on the policy.

Why do they ask for the value of your bike then? Because If I wrote 300 to get a cheaper insurance quote then surely that's what they would pay out for?

Confused.com wrote:
Value: The more expensive it is, the more your bike would cost to replace if stolen or written off in an accident – so the higher the premiums. A classic bike, for example, may also cost more to repair, particularly if it is rare and the cost of spare parts is higher than for other makes and models. If, on the other hand, you own a beaten-up old scooter, don’t assume that just because your own bike isn’t worth much, it will be cheap to cover: remember, insurance is not just for damage to your own ride, it is also designed to protect other road users against any accidents you could cause

Not sure how accurate but here's the source link:

Sorry to hear about the bike, hopefully it's still floating around East London somewhere. Out of curiosity, what part of East London was it taken from?

Aww, God dammit. Sad

No idea about the insurance although I'm sure they'll be keen to point out that they gave you plenty of chances and reminders to check your policy and spot all the errors and bullshit they'd put on it.

Best of luck.

Where abouts in E. London? Stolen from your house or what?

Stunning bike. I'm sure the new owner in Eastern Europe will enjoy it.

thanks for the help guys, well the policy is only about a week old as I just bought the bike...So I guess I can phone them up and say the details they have are incorrect?

Had an oxford disk lock, and chain and pad lock...I also ordered one of these: https://securityforbikes.com/proddetail.php?prod=P19-x.x-SS65CS which arrived a little bit too late......

And it was stolen from Homerton, Hackney... Sad

I'm not a huge believer in coincidence. You can't be that unlucky. Someone may have heard you talking, or the seller is dodgy, or your neighbours.

Really sorry about the bike. I love that model, year and colour scheme.

ahh bugger, sorry for your bike loss. I guess if pro's decide they are having your bike then no amount of security chains is going to do it.

Need a security device where the bike blows up killing the thief, I would donate my bike just for the laugh of watching that!

I really should stop plastering pics of my bikes on the forum , or am I paranoid?

Pros? Bike is worth around £4k from what I have seen. They aren't 'pros' targeting very high value bikes.

OP should be thankful that he has been culturally enriched.

I'll be heading through Hackney up into Walthamstow this weekend. I'll head around some of the estates and have a nose around for you. It's unlikely to be still in the area, probably worth a look though. Thumbs Up

I'll ask around for you, I know a couple of people in Hackney. Depending on who done it, you may find that the bike is still local. I'm not too far away either. Thumbs Up

Sorry to hear about your loss, it's a right cunt.

The only insurance policy I ever had that guaranteed a pay out figure was the one I had for my Goldwing trike and for that I had to send in photographs, proof of what I paid for it and photocopies of all the documentation.

They then guaranteed to pay the £14000 I had paid in case of stolen written off etc. but value would be reviewed each year. That was a special policy through Carol Nash a few years ago, whether they do the same thing now I don't know.

For my Trophy, I told them (MCE) £12000 value with no excess and was specifically told it would be market value in case of theft/crash. Who decides market value I have no idea. I suspect it means 'we will try and buttfuck you'

Good luck with your claim. Thumbs Up

When my bike was written off, the bloke from the insurance company had some sort of booklet. He looked up the make, model and year of my bike and made me a very reasonable offer, which was around £200 less than I'd paid for the bike six months earlier.

regarding the valuation, all calls are recorded and can be traced back if necessary for proof.
