I've always enjoyed this guys car reviews, but he's poking a sharp
stick into the eye's of bikers everywhere....

This guy said "Britains motorcyclists are a bunch of wusses".

He's said on many occasions that the reason he slags off motorbikes is that he's scared of them.

A friend of mine went to Top Gear as an audience member for the new format a few weeks ago, he had a good chat with JC and the team about motorbikes (the other 2 presenters are keen bikers).

JC said that the reason he doesn't like them is indeed that he is scared of them, just you and the engine accelerated up to 60 in 3 seconds. A lot of the stuff he says "ohhh I really can't stand bikes they should be crushed" etc. is just for the cameras, as is a lot of the stuff he says, that's what makes him what he is.

Incidently, the reason they don't do any bike stuff on top gear is because they'd have to go into a lot of detail, as bike owners generally know a lot about bikes themselves anyway, and if they go into enough detail to please bikers, they'll put people who like cars off.

Maybe so but that still doesn't excuse the comments about putting cheese wire across the roads..whether it was said in jest or not..

Clarkson is a complete knob

I've seen clarky on bikes twice on the motorworld series he did once on a moped in vietnam and a side car down in swissERland.

Good clip though still a porsche costs like how many times the price of an R1?

I just watched the video, seen it before actually, there is absolutely no way that R1 was being ridden "properly" he looked like a leisurly stroll around the track as if it's pre-written and practiced to say where the car overtakes etc etc. It was sooooooooo cheesey and fake!

He doesnt seem to be cranking it over hardly anything, well compared to some riders/bikes...

Thats was my impression.

Did anyone read the test between the suzuki cresent, gsxr1000, and the radical car, lambo and some more?

Cresent won.

Cars are better in corners, Bikes are better in straights. Cars are fun, bikes are more fun.

Cars are better sometimes, bikes are better sometimes. They are both completely different. I love them both.

Thumbs Up

Totall agree with Claud. Cars have their place and so do bikes (wouldn't be without either of mine).

Just for info the Porsche Carrera 4 list price is £64,060 (https://www2.uk.porsche.com/english/gbr/home.htm) and a new R1 is £9399 (https://www.motorcyclenews.com/nav?page=motorcyclenews.bikes.model&resourceId=1005637)

Then i'll take 2 of your porsches Laughing Laughing

i wonder what a £64.060 bike would do to a porsche?

He describes the R1 as the cream of road going motorbicycles...

The R1 from that year is reputed to not be the best handling bike in the world... I would say that pretty much any sportsbike would out accelerate the porsche at the start, so why not use a bike known for sublime track handling?

I would have said that a 998 or something would have been faster around the corners - probably not on capability but more on confidence in the bike. Niall mackenzie probably just jumped on the bike having never ridden it before and tried to beat the porsche without any setup. Plus, would you risk an overtake of a 1 tonne porsche on a 180kg bike in a corner?

I reckon, given a newer R1 or at least a bike that he was more confident with, erase the possibility of being rammed off by the car, and the bike would win.

I'd like to see G take Jeremy Clarkson as a pillion passenger on the ZX9 or something! Laughing

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

It's from a video sold to people who like cars. Therefore the car will win.

If it was a video sold to people who like bikes, the bike would win.

Not really all that complicated a concept, is it?

Can get last year's BSB-spec bike for around £15k usually! Now that would be interesting to convert back to a road bike Smile.

I presume the bike didn't have tyre warmers.
One of the problems with bikes in relation to cars is they need their tyres to be warm before pushing it.
Especially for someone that's used to tyre-warmed slicks rather than cold road tyres.

I remember JC saying once on top gear that he had a go on a Duke and the acceleration scared his little (big) panties off Laughing , the other person who presents the show (or used to, ain't watched it in ages) the one who looks about 15 has a gixxer and he loves bikes. I have friends who have met the both.
