Street Triple regulator location?

Hi all,

I need to do some testing on my triple, its decided to stop itself starting, the battery was fine whilst I didn't use it for 4 weeks however I go out on Tuesday, try to use it today and its powering on, dash lights/headlights etc but hit the starter and everything goes off.

I mainly want to check the wiring whilst I check voltage everywhere as I'm not 100% this is a first time thing as it happened when loaned out so I want to double check the lot.

Any info as to where the regulator is would be superb, also what areas to look at. Ignition wires rubbing won't be an issue as I've wired it manually Thumbs Up

I think it's jammed up behind the rear shock.

Can't answer your question but I'd be looking at the solenoid first.

And the starter relay if there is one.

The solenoid, last time I checked so about 2 months looked fine, no corrosion anywhere, really clean, sits in quite a secluded place on there. I'll bust it open and take a look anyway.

It's just very strange that absolutely everything died and didn't come back on, almost as if you've turned the key off. Left it in the on position for about 20 seconds and it sprung into life but died again when hitting start.

It worked perfectly fine on Tuesday, only difference from then to now is a new helmet, and it sure as hell won't affect the bike Laughing

I'd check the battery connections.

has the reg / rec been replaced under the recall?

call a triumph dealer with the last 6 digits of your vin to find out if there's any outstanding recalls

Put a meter on the battery, press starter. If it drops right off the battery is flat. If it doesn't but the lights go out find the other end of the black battery lead and check it's secure.

Very odd. Got home and it fired so stripped down.

I've removed the solenoid and all of its wires. Given them a proper seeing to, cleaned up surfaces as they were a bit furry. Dabs of "electrical grease" god knows what it is but it's labeled that Laughing

Rewired alarm, charged battery for 3 hours whilst sorting. Fitted all the lights Gain so it's more like a bike now.

With everything connected up the bike seems to be fine. I'll test in the morning but right now the battery shows 12.81 with ignition off. 12.2 with it on and drops to 11.8 when startIng but spins over silly fast and fires within a second.

Regulator looks very clean and the connections are clean and free from any corrosion. Perfecto!
