Cam chain guide

Hi all,

When taking off the camshafts on my bike to adjust the shims, the cam chain guide has moved backwards and will not go back to it's original position, leaving me with not enough slack to put the camshafts back in.

I don't understand how this has happened and can't get it back to it's original position, there's something preventing it from moving back.

You loosened the cam chain tensioner, right?

Yes loosened the cam chain tensioner, but I don't think this piece is controlled by the tensioner, it's on the opposite side of the engine.
