GPR Stabiliser vs normal steering damper

Hey all,

Currently pondering a steering damper and have been researching a few different styles.

Pretty happy with the CSC vs RSC (Constant vs Reactive) differences and for a road bike RSC sounds the better option to prevent it interfering at low speeds in car parks and the like, but I've heard about the GPR style ones and they look very neat but I've heard differing opinions.

When I was at PDQ the other week I mentioned them and the guy said he wouldn't recommend them on a sports bike because the 'notch' system they use allows a modicum of play that at high speed can be enough to cause problems whereas you wouldn't get that with the piston styles.

Now I know a few of these GPR style ones are fitted as standard on a few bikes and apparently they're used on a lot of the IOM bikes so can't be that bad.

Was just wondering who's had experience with that and what their thoughts were?
