Just saying hello.

Long time lurker first time poster.

Did My CBT back in march and picked up my first bike 3 weeks ago. Using it to nip around town/to and from work. Riding in London has its fun moments!

Hola OP

& Lawl, the tube strike combine with all of the roadworks going on has created some sort of vehicular civil war. Filtering through the vehicular battlefield is fun.

Hell yeah! As soon as I entered the city on my morning commute, all around me the car/van/lorry windows were down and the air was full of all manner of insults. Was marvelous to just filter past it all Smile

Yeah, but seriously.... what the fuck is with all the roadworks lately? I see a lot of cones but little actual work taking place...

AS mayor of London you have to keep something going that keeps everybody complaining.. So in the sunny nice warm weather, put up shit loads of roadworks to make everyone mad as hell. People will do enough complaining in the winter about the shit weather Very Happy

Second day on the bike, both days going around central London myself!

Staying away from the tube strike was fantastic, meeting the 1000s of extra cars wasn't so much.

As I was waiting at some temporary traffic lights that take 2000 years to change, my mind began to drift and I read a sign that was on a fence. It said that they're installing new water mains to cope with 200k new people in London. Something like that. Basically overcrowding is taking its toll, they're desperately installing new water mains before the old ones 'splode because they're currently working double time.

How are they going to do that without actually doing it?

Maybe they're on strike as well Laughing

Similar situation in Birmingham too - massive disruption to traffic and businesses from badly planned roadworks that are going to take years to complete.

If you spend enough time in the tailbacks, you might get to see groups of people wearing hi-viz jackets over suits standing around chatting or texting, but very little evidence of 'work' being done.

Maybe it's part of a plot to get more people to buy motorbikes? Smile
