Is rain affecting the starter? How to store the bike?

I've a couple threads about how rain commonly affects the electrics on a bike. I bought a brand new Kymco Pulsar S about a month ago. Apart from being delivered with a flat battery (identified by members of this forum), it's been fairly smooth.

However, I haven't immediately bought a cover for it because it's the middle of summer... Yet it has rained! After the rain it wont start for say about 4-6 hours... No sound from the starter, not ticking over or anything but the lights do come on fine. Can't kick start because I've bent up the circlip holding it in place. Is there any immediate solution other than a can of air or WD40?

And do I absolutely have to store the bike indoors and/or under a cover?

i had a kymco 250 cc scooter when i was living in danmark.

every time it rained, the lights would stop working.

Seems to me that kymco does a poor job in making the bike controls waterproof.

since mine was stored outside under a cover, it would start in the mornings though. but a ride in the rain always resulting in the electronics cutting out. And this was a brand new scooter!

Cracked spark plug caps cause what you've experienced. In fact, the whole ignition system if not sealed up will cause that.

I've had the bike covered today but been pissing down all day and very high humidity out. Still not starting...

I bought it off the internet and turns out the dealer is an absolute tool. Who normally seals the bike up, the dealer or the manufacturer/importer?

I haven't given up with him, I'm wondering if the dealer didn't do another thing he was meant to and whether it could be sorted with a more local kymco dealer who isn't a tool under warranty
