Splitting new chain

Stupid question but would a bicycle chain splitter be able to split a motorcycle chain or will I have to buy a motorcycle specific splitter? Currently have one similar to

Also, where would be the best place to sell an old gold-plated chain? Is there enough gold on it to get some cash back?

I think you'll break the splitter,

bike chains aren't as strong / tough as motorbike chains as the stresses are lower, I have bent a few chain splitters doing pushbike chains with them.

i grind the link pins mushroom down & use a punch as a drift..no chain splitter tool needed.

you will break it, get proper chain breaker tool

Note even with proper tool you need to grind off first the pins than to use the tool properly otherwise you will break this one too.

How about the new chain have you planned how to rivet it?

So that you know there are 2 types of master link pins and you need different tools and approach for them. Hard-head pins and soft-head pins.
