I am going to buy a red fairing panel for my NS125R but my bike is white so i will have to respray it. I am planning to sand it down and respray it.

What should i use

Primer, white paint then laquer
or just white paint then laquer.

Does anybody know where i can buy this stuff and if anyone has done it before then do you have the paint code which matches the NS125R or does it not really matter because it's white.

Thanks

Adam

1) 800 wet & dry to prep the panel.

2) you don't have to prime the panel but it is best to using white primer approximately 3 light coats (this will stop any reaction) if the paint thats already on panel is different to the one you are using.
(try to use the same primer as the make of the paint product)

3) leave to dry for a couple of hours.

4) re-wet flat with 800 wet & dry

5) clean and dry with water or a panel cloth if you can get hold of one.

6)apply paint in even coats(lightly to stop runs)about 3 to 4 coats
leave for about 2 hours to dry.

7) depending on wether you are using base coat and liquor or just a solid colour depend on wether it need liquor. If it does need liquor apply 2 coats 3 max and leave to dry for about 1 to 2 hours.

oh and yes you do need to get the colour code for the bike because there are thousand of shades of white.........

if you can't find paint code take a panel that is already painted to the paint place you are having it from and they should match it from the panel......

if you go into and ask a car body repairs they will tell you were to get the stuff from that is near to you

Thanks Bumper,

That is very helpful, i will go down to panel factors with a panel and get them to match the colour.

One trick that I've used over the years that works really well is to place the part in front of a fan (no heat) between coats. Also, it's very important to do the painting in an environment that's sufficiently warm (at least 22C). Lastly, I bought a device called a "can gun" that fits onto the top of the can (wal-mart $1.49). The can-gun keeps splatters OFF your hand, and makes even strokes easier to accomplish.
Good Luck!!

I prefer to drink liquor myself, rather than waste it on panels. Wouldn't liquor strip the paint off? Maybe laquer is a better idea Whistle
