PC Value?

Hi All

Looking to upgrade my current PC as my current one was built about 4 years ago although I have added to it over the years.

I was looking to move to an i7 system with a liquid cooler etc. Current system is ok but when editing videos and multi tasking it can slow up a bit.

Didn't know if anyone could give me a rough estimate (value wise) of my current 'rig'?

I would be happy to just sell the CPU, Mobo and RAM and use the reset to go in for my new build so if anyone had a fair price in mind for either the whole set up or the CPU, Mobo and RAM I would really appreciate it

• Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit (Genuine, key included)
• CM Storm Scout case
• AMD Phenom II X4 955 Processor 3.20 GHz
• Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 MHz
• 250GB Samsung SSD (utilised as boot drive)

• Asus M5A97 PRO Motherboard
• Gigabyte nVIDIA GTX560TI 1GB Graphics Card
• Corsair 750W Modular PSU
• Samsung CD / DVD Reader / Writer Drive
• Samsung SH-B123L/BSBP 12x Blu-ray Player Drive

I also have 2 x AOC 2353 Widescreen LCD Monitors that I could look to sell on but am tempted to stick with them for the new build.

I reckon ~£120 for CPU, mobo Ram maybe £300/350 for the lot

MOBO - £40
GPU - £45
RAM - £45-50
PSU - If CX series maybe £40/50, if RM a bit more (750W is insane overkill for the setup)

I'd keep the SSD, HDD, monitors and optical drives for your new build

Even your example is still cheaper than what you reckon you could sell them SH for, I didn't know RAM appreciates.

Would always hope for more but it's a start.

My old PSU failed and when I bought the 750 is was only slightly dearer than 500 so thought i'd 'future proof' if I ever got around to needing more power then i'd have it.

I was looking at the i7-4790K with a liquid CPU cooler so thats about £350 just for those

I've got a 7980k with a std cooler at the moment and don't see the point in liquid cooling it tbh. I liquid cooled my old Q6600 8 years ago and to be fair it never once gave me a problem in all that time bar 1 change of antifreeze to keep it fresh ! But having swapped to an Nvidea750 Ti OC I'm liking the easy access and less noise than the twin 6" fans I had on the rad. Unless you are going past the 4.3Ghz for the cpu or you've got a hot GPU setup it's more fad than performance. I've still got the full LC kit but if I want to transport the pc it's a lot simpler now!

To be honest, the whole air / water cooling isn't my thing knowledge wise.

From what i'd read into, rightly or wrongly if I got the CPU liquid cooler it would make my PC a lot quieter.

My current build with just regular fans sounds like a small plane preparing for take off most of the time.

Would really be looking to OC nor would my graphics card setup be anything to write home about. Would be looking to get something average but nothing too fancy!

Will see if I can shift anything and see what budget I have to work with then.

If you want a semi decent tower these days, account for £1000, give or take bits like HDDs, GPUs, Case, etc... that you may or may not already have.

I'd remove the SSD and Blu-ray drive and sell the rest to someone for £100. Maybe swap the RAM and power supply out to use in your new machine too if you know the buyer only wants a general use machine.
