I've done a top end rebuild on my zx7r and I've been running in the new rings on mineral oil below 4000rpm and now I've swapped to a fully synthetic oil and my once clean gear change is now clunky. Still slowly building the revs up.

Without looking at the clutch basket for friction plate dents that can cause it to hang up, it was fine before but not after the oil change. I assume it's the oil type causing the contaminated friction plates to stick hence a lumpy change.

Before I change the friction plates has anybody else suffered this kind of thing?

I went from mineral rock oil to a fully synthetic Castrol 10/40 BIKE oil.

I've not suffered it.
I would run it as it is for a bit. If it doesn't calm down then change the oil to the one you had before.

a mineral oil would not offer protection under harsh loads and accelerations accelerating wear.
