I'm going to buy an alarm this month and get it fitted, I know that it won't stop it being picked up and put in a van won't help but my thatcham approved lock may do Wink

Basically I just want to know if any of you people out there have one and what you think of it, the four below are the remaining choices and are all (category 1) thatcham approved (for minimum of 1 year from fitting).

Spyball:

Acumen CAT1:

Datatool System 3:

META 357TV2:

Which one would you go for?

I've got a Datatool system 3 on my bike and I can't recommend it highly enough. It arms itself 30 seconds after turning the ignition off, gives warning bleeps for slight movement, and the movement sensor can be turned off at the touch of a button. Thumbs Up

There are loads of other features, but I've found it very easy to live with - an excellent alarm.

Yeh i like the way that the meta doesn't auto-arm the alarm, just the immobilizer. That way when you get back from paying for your petrol and sit on the bike the alarm doesn't go off, it just doesnt start till you press the button.

I've got the datatool system. No problems and ask Kev how loud it is when you have your seat off!

I think they're all fairly much of a muchness.

I would recommend you get a pager though. Great things cos you don't have to worry about when your bike's out of earshot. Thumbs Up

Spyball. Thumbs Up

Got one on my bike and it is brilliant. Bendy, where did you get your alarm pager from? Will it work with any alarm?

Mine's an Acumen pager and yeah, it'll work with any alarm. Picked it up on ebay for about £65 if I recall.

Ideally you wire them into the alarm when fitting, but can be added afterwards. With my alarm it was really hard to determine what wire did what (kind of the point really) so the pager's wired into the indicators. Alarm flashes them - pager goes off. Never have it turned on when I'm on the bike so it's not a problem. Smile

Don't you still have to be within a certain distance of your bike for the pager alarms to work though. Confused

Yes. But there's not much point in it telling you your bike's being nicked when you're too far away to do anything about it. My bike's downstairs and I wouldn't hear the alarm go off, hence the pager.

I think it was quoted at something daft like 1000 metres range, but when you add buildings into the equation that comes down a fair bit.
