Do you find you can corner one way better than the other?

Can you only get your knee down on one side, or do you find you can lean further, or whatever your cornering method is?

I'm not sure, but I think I find left handers easier than right.

Left is preferred also. I'm right handed.

Lefts seem to flow much more easily for some reason, although can knee down the right. Go figure!

I would say at the moment I'm about 50-50. Even though I'm no-where near knee down stage, I feel I lean quite well going round roundabouts, but I feel pretty comfortable leaning left also!

I'll also just add that it's only on big roundabouts and wide corners, 'cause at t-junctions I'm still pretty cautious about my line and conscious of other traffic around those kind of junctions!

**Ill get there one day - hopefully** Rolling Eyes

Find right hand corners easier, seem to be more comfortable hanging off the bike that side and leanng it further.

Definitely more comfortable in right handers. I have tried left hand knee down but I am unsure whether I am not hanging off correctly or just not leaning enough, something just doesn't feel as natural as going right. Confused
When I first started riding my NSR I used to find left handers more natural and always thought it weird when people said they prefered right handers, not sure what changed, but probably practicing kneedown on roundabouts has made me more right turn biased. Need to go round the roundabouts the wrong way for a bit I think. Embarassed

Not sure to be honest... sometimes I feel like I corner right much much better, some times I feel left hands are more confident. I can't seem to hang off to the left, it doesn't feel right Confused and can get my right knee down...

Recently I was trying for left knee down and gradually it became more natural and I was hanging off a bit better and ALMOST got my knee down, and went through a stage of being much better at left corners than I was at rights.

Then everything went to pot and now I can't corner left nor right very well Confused Laughing

Meh riding style has changed now anyway, prefer foot out to knee down Razz

You just need to change bikes. I can really see foot out on the R6... Wink Laughing

your problems could stem from the fact that your 2 bikes go into corners differently. ie Smoto is upright, high etc, and R6 is lean over, low and racey...

I can't say I've paid much attention whether I corner easily either direction.

If anything, I'd probably assumed (!) it was easier to corner left cos you're on the left side of the road, but I suppose other people's responses that they find it easier on the right might make me have to rethink my strategem on that one.

I'd speculate that it's at least partly because when cornering to the left, there's no danger of leaning over the white line.

I'm surprised so many prefer left handers.

On the road in this country you're likely to have a better view of the road ahead when the road is going right rather then left I would have thought. Confused Personally I don't like the whole running wide into the other lane possibilities when going round a left hander, for some reason they seem worse then the running wide off the road on a right hander.

On track I think I am marginally better at right handers, because of all the time I've wasted circling round abouts.

Rights.

I suck at left handers, but my rights are coming along alright thanks to time spent going clockwise round racetracks and roundabouts.

Lefties always seems to flow, like somebody else said. I am right handed and it just feels so natural to turn left. There must be some logical reason for this. I just find I have to put more effort into turning right. Confused

Right always feels much better, Get more practise at it with roundabouts. Also prefer to cut a corner (when i can see its safe) than to go off the road. Smile

I always used to prefer left's, but then I binned it on a left and lost some confidence. I'd say I'm about even now.

Fractionally lefts. Mine is mainly for the reason the Rory stated.

I've nearly had my head taken off by varying vehicles coming round country roads crossing the white line onto my side. So I'm probably more cautious of that. Whereas on a left hander I ride out as close to the white line as I'm comfortable with and lean inwards, then it's down to me to take my own head off. Rolling Eyes
